Quantifying the efficiency of hydroxyapatite mineralising peptides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a non-destructive analytical calibration tool to allow quantitative assessment of individual calcium phosphates such as hydroxyapatite (HAP) from mixtures including brushite.

Marine silicon for biomedical sustainability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating marine silicon for biomedical engineering. Abstract Despite momentous divergence from oceanic origin, human beings and marine organisms exhibit elemental homology through silicon utilization. Notably, silicon serves as a critical constituent in multiple biomedical processes.

Chemical agents to control biofilm formation in step 1 of care—Toothpastes and mouthwashes/concepts and challenges

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Maintaining optimal oral hygiene is important for overall oral care, ensuring the well‐being of teeth and their surrounding tissues. In addition, it promotes fresh breath and a pleasing smile. A key element of oral self‐care is the daily use of toothpaste during regular brushing.

Thermal stability of brushite with chitosan samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, the powders of brushite from an aqueous solution of Ca(NO[3])[2]- (NH[4])[2]HPO[4] with different content of chitosan were synthesized. XRD data revealed that all samples are single-phase and are brushite (CaHPO[4]•centerdot2H[2]O).

The Impact of Full-Scale Substitution of Ca2+ with Ni2+ Ions on Brushite’s Crystal Structure and Phase Composition

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
Because the impact of the full-scale substitution of Ca2+ in brushite (CaHPO4·2H2O) with Ni2+ ions has never been systematically explored, it is the focus of this investigation, as it holds potential for use in CaxNi1−xHPO4·nH2O production.

Perfluorodecalin and bone regeneration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Perfluorodecalin (PFD) is a chemically and biologically inert biomaterial and, as many perfluorocarbons, is also hydrophobic, radiopaque and has a high solute capacity for gases such as oxygen.
