The rotor includes a coil assembly having a plurality of coils interposed between a stator back plate and the permanent magnet array. The coil assembly rotates relative to the array of permanent magnets.

1971Abstract : The report covers work performed on the design and development of a Brushless DC Starter Generator System and its testing. The unit was built and tested as a DC power generator and aircraft engine starter. In the generating mode the unit produced 200 amperes at 28-30 VDC within plus or minus 0.5V regulation.
