Genetic diversity of population and sperm cryopreservation of pirapitinga-do-sul Brycon opalinus

open access: yes, 2010

Studies on the conservation of fish species from the Santo Antônio river, Doce river basin

open access: yes, 2019

Mitochondrial DNA diversity in wild and cultured populations of Brycon opalinus (Cuvier, 1819) (Characiformes, Characidae, Bryconinae) from the Paraı́ba do Sul Basin, Brazil

open access: yesAquaculture, 2002
Abstract RFLP analysis of mitochondrial DNA was carried out to investigate the population genetic structure of cultured and wild populations of Pirapitinga-do-sul— Brycon opalinus (Cuvier, 1819) (Characiformes, Characidae, Bryconinae) from the Paraiba do sul basin, Brazil.

Genetic diversity of wild and cultured populations of Brycon opalinus (Cuvier, 1819) (Characiforme, Characidae, Bryconiae) using microsatellites

Aquaculture, 2005
Abstract The genetic structure of Brycon opalinus (Brazilian freshwater fish species) from seven wild populations across Paraiba do Sul basin and one cultured population was investigated using 7 microsatellite loci. Polymorphism at all loci was assessed with a total of 162 different alleles found.

Folliculogenesis and follicular growth in the endangered fish Brycon opalinus, with emphasis on ovarian matrix remodeling

Cell and Tissue Research
Ovarian development of fishes involves significant functional and structural changes during the process of mature egg formation. In this study, we report the folliculogenesis and follicular growth in the endangered species Brycon opalinus as well as the dynamics of the proteins Foxl2, Col4 and MMP-9 during ovarian maturation.

Identification and characterization of microsatellites loci in Brycon opalinus (Cuvier, 1819) (Characiforme, Characidae, Bryconiae)

Molecular Ecology Notes, 2003
Abstract Brycon species are present in various basins in Brazil and were or still are part of commercial fisheries and aquaculture activities (Ferreira et al. 1996, Mendonça 1994). Despite the importance of this group of fish, natural populations of some Brycon species are endangered (Lins et al. 1997).
