Risk assessment of workers' exposure to BTEX and hazardous area classification at gasoline stations.
Vaporization of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) compounds pollutes the air and causes health hazards at gasoline stations. This study revealed the risk of BTEX exposure according to the hazardous area classification at gasoline stations.

INTER METHOD COMPARISONS OFAMBIENT BTEX MEASUREMENTS
Arising from concern about possible impacts of petroleum vapours on the local community in a residential area of the south Durban industrial basin, ECOSERV were employed to develop and implement an air quality monitoring program. Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) compounds were selected as the most appropriate indicator pollutants for ...

ABSTRACT Globally, rivers receive a diverse range of chemicals, including metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, petrochemicals, human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and personal care products. However, the extent to which these different chemical groups affect riverine invertebrate communities is not well defined.

MXene‐Enhanced Electromembrane Systems for Advanced Water Applications: A Review
MXenes, synthesized via etching, intercalation, and delamination, exhibit hydrophilicity, conductivity, tunability, and strength, enabling roles as membranes, electrodes, and hybrids in electrical‐driven membrane technologies. These systems leverage adsorption, catalysis, separation, and self‐cleaning but face challenges in stability, scalability ...

Exposure to hazardous volatile organic compounds, PM 10 and CO while walking along streets in urban Guangzhou, China [PDF]
Toxic air pollutants in street canyons are important issues concerning public health especially in some large Asian cities like Guangzhou. In 1998 <18% of Guangzhou citizens used public transportation modes, with a majority commuting on foot (42%) or ...

Abstract At many petroleum hydrocarbon spill sites, residual spilled product forms a long‐term source of groundwater contamination. The phrase source zone natural depletion is used to refer to the mass loss rates. Overall mass lost under environmental conditions was analyzed using conservative biomarker concentrations for a 1979 oil spill in northern ...

Advanced treatment of wastewater with BTEX
Abstract Standards for concentrations of pollutants in wastewaters discharged to the environment are especially restrictive for BTEX, the compounds which are recognized to be particularly toxic. There is a need to lower the BTEX concentration in the stream coming out of the bioreactor. For this purpose, a high-pressure membrane process was proposed.
