Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Symmetry Approach in the Evaluation of the Effect of Boundary Proximity on Oscillation of Gas Bubbles

open access: yesFluids, 2018
The purpose of the present review is to describe the effect of an interface between media with different mechanical properties on the acoustic response of a gas bubble.

First Demonstration of a Scintillating Xenon Bubble Chamber for Detecting Dark Matter and Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering

open access: yes, 2017
A 30-g xenon bubble chamber, operated at Northwestern University in June and November 2016, has for the first time observed simultaneous bubble nucleation and scintillation by nuclear recoils in a superheated liquid.

Bubble wall perturbations coupled with gravitational waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We study a coupled system of gravitational waves and a domain wall which is the boundary of a vacuum bubble in de Sitter spacetime. To treat the system, we use the metric junction formalism of Israel.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Study on Bubble Absorption Characteristics of R134a-DMF in Vertical Tube

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2022
To study the heat and mass transfer characteristics of an R134a-DMF (Dimethylformamide) bubble absorption process in a vertical tube, an experimental device for bubble absorption in a vertical tube was fabricated, and a mathematical model of heat and ...

Investigation of Recirculating Marangoni Flow in Three-Dimensional Geometry of Aqueous Micro-Foams

open access: yesFluids, 2023
Experimental investigations of Marangoni flow in micro-foams have faced challenges due to the inherent difficulties in detecting and measuring this flow.

A hydrodynamical model of the circumstellar bubble created by two massive stars

open access: yes, 2012
Numerical models of the wind-blown bubble of massive stars usually only account for the wind of a single star. However, since massive stars are usually formed in clusters, it would be more realistic to follow the evolution of a bubble created by several ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.
