We use the notion of a housing bubble as an equilibrium in which some investors hold houses for resale purposes only and not with the expectation of receiving a dividend, either in the form of rent or utility. We show that an economy with looser collateral constraints is less prone to bubbles, which, in turn, have smaller size, but are more fragile in

Flow Structure and Deformation of Two Bubbles Rising Side by Side in a Quiescent Liquid
In the motion of two spherical bubbles rising side by side, the bubbles are known to attract each other at a high Reynolds number (Re = ρUd/μ). Furthermore, spherical bubbles kiss and bounce under certain conditions; however, deformable bubbles repel ...

From Subprime and Eurozone Crisis with Full Speed into the Next Financial Crisis
This paper offers an analysis of the road from subprime and eurozone crisis to the elements of a new systemic crisis. Our aim is to research common issues that accompany each of these crises and to explore elements that hint that the financial systems ...

Bubbles Tomorrow and Bubbles Yesterday, but Never Bubbles Today? [PDF]
Considering their importance and the amount of effort that has gone into understanding them, asset price bubbles continue to perplex. The evidence of these bubbles seldom squares with what would be expected from standard asset price theory. Unlike the suggestions from theory, expectations of prices of both stocks and houses tend to be procyclical—price

TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

Decarburization and Inclusion Removal Process in Single Snorkel Vacuum Degasser
In the current work, the coupled mathematical models for decarburization, fluid flow model and inclusion collision-aggregation model were solved to investigate the spatial distribution of carbon, inclusion’s collision-aggregation and removal in a single ...

We demonstrate that thermocapillary forces may drive bubbles against liquid flow in 'anomalous' mixtures. Unlike 'ordinary' liquids, in which bubbles migrate towards higher temperatures, we have observed vapour bubbles migrating towards lower temperatures, therefore against the flow. This unusual behaviour may be explained by the temperature dependence

Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting
