Complex rotation numbers: bubbles and their intersections [PDF]

open access: yesAnalysis & PDE 11 (2018) 1787-1801, 2017
The construction of complex rotation numbers, due to V.Arnold, gives rise to a fractal-like set "bubbles" related to a circle diffeomorphism. "Bubbles" is a complex analogue to Arnold tongues. This article contains a survey of the known properties of bubbles, as well as a variety of open questions.

The interaction of multiple bubbles in a Hele-Shaw channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We study the dynamics of two air bubbles driven by the motion of a suspending viscous fluid in a Hele-Shaw channel with a small elevation along its centreline via physical experiment and numerical simulation of a depth-averaged model. For a single-bubble system we establish that, in general, bubble propagation speed monotonically increases with bubble ...

Nonlinear Wave Equations for Pressure Wave Propagation in Liquids Containing Gas Bubbles

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2011
Based on the unified theory by the present authors (Kanagawa et al., J. Fluid Sci. Tech., 5, 2010), the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers (KdVB) equation and the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation with an attenuation term for weakly nonlinear waves in ...

Price Bubble in the Iranian Housing Market Based on the Structural Model of Housing Price Determination [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه پژوهش‌های اقتصادی ایران, 2016
During two last decades, Iranians have faced with a wide and substantial increase in housing prices, especially in great metropolitans such as Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan and Shiraz.

Investigation on the Alloy Mixing and Inclusion Removement through Using a New Slot-Porous Matched Tuyeres

open access: yesMetals, 2023
A mathematical model was developed to investigate the refining process through using slot-porous matched dual tuyeres. In this model, the bubble expansion is considered through the ideal gas state equation.

Housing Bubbles [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2008
We use the notion of a housing bubble as an equilibrium in which some investors hold houses for resale purposes only and not with the expectation of receiving a dividend, either in the form of rent or utility. We show that an economy with looser collateral constraints is less prone to bubbles, which, in turn, have smaller size, but are more fragile in

Molecular Insights into the Effect of Nitrogen Bubbles on the Formation of Tetrahydrofuran Hydrates

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
In this work, a molecular dynamics simulation was conducted to study the microscopic mechanism of how nitrogen bubbles affect the formation of THF hydrates at the molecular level.

DNA denaturation bubbles at criticality [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 77, 031919 (2008), 2008
The equilibrium statistical properties of DNA denaturation bubbles are examined in detail within the framework of the Peyrard-Bishop-Dauxois model. Bubble formation in homogeneous DNA is found to depend crucially on the presence of nonlinear base-stacking interactions. Small bubbles extending over less than 10 base pairs are associated with much larger

Flow Structure and Deformation of Two Bubbles Rising Side by Side in a Quiescent Liquid

open access: yesFluids, 2021
In the motion of two spherical bubbles rising side by side, the bubbles are known to attract each other at a high Reynolds number (Re = ρUd/μ). Furthermore, spherical bubbles kiss and bounce under certain conditions; however, deformable bubbles repel ...

BubGAN: Bubble Generative Adversarial Networks for Synthesizing Realistic Bubbly Flow Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Bubble segmentation and size detection algorithms have been developed in recent years for their high efficiency and accuracy in measuring bubbly two-phase flows. In this work, we proposed an architecture called bubble generative adversarial networks (BubGAN) for the generation of realistic synthetic images which could be further used as training or ...
