Bubble and bubble cloud dynamics

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2000
Cavitation bubbles are formed from small air bubbles, so-called nuclei, with the surrounding pressure reduction caused by the flow, and then, the bubbles shrink and collapse with the surrounding pressure rise. Such volumetric changes of bubbles are calculated in detail and it is found that they are significantly influenced by the internal phenomena ...

The dynamics of the aspheric encapsulated bubble

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013
Based on hydrodynamics and elastic mechanics, a model is proposed for the aspheric encapsulated bubble (AEB) in liquid driven by a spherical ultrasound. The aspheric component of the bubble surfaces includes any complicated shape as a perturbation of the spherical symmetry. For example, the simple ovoid encapsulated bubble is studied numerically in the

Dynamics of gas bubbles in monolayers

Physical Review A, 1990
We present a study of the temporal evolution of a two-dimensional bubble pattern in the liquid-gas coexistence region of monolayers. Using fluorescence microscopy of pentadecanoic acid or dipalmitoyl phosphotidylcholine on the surface of water, we study the coarsening of the pattern for several days.

Dynamics of bubbles in general relativity

Physical Review D, 1987
This is a systematic study of the evolution of thin shell bubbles in general relativity. We develop the general thin-wall formalism first elaborated by Israel and apply it to the investigation of the motion of various bubbles arising in the course of phase transitions in the very early Universe including new phase bubbles, old phase remnants, and ...

Dynamics of two-dimensional bubbles

Physical Review E, 2015
The dynamics of two-dimensional bubbles ascending under the influence of buoyant forces is numerically studied with a one-fluid model coupled with the front-tracking technique. The bubble dynamics are described by recording the position, shape, and orientation of the bubbles as functions of time.

Bubble dynamics and spontaneous compactification

Physical Review D, 1989
As a laboratory for studying dimensional reduction in inhomogeneous spacetimes, we consider several five-dimensional models in which a bubble of a spacetime with a small compact dimension is sewn to a spacetime with all five dimensions macroscopic. Obliging the five-dimensional metric to be well behaved at the domain boundary constrains the parameters ...

Nonlinear bubble dynamics of cavitation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
A theoretical framework for studying cavitation dynamics is revived. It consists of a nonlinear sound wave equation in an acoustic cavitation environment together with the bubble motion equation. The nonlinear sound wave equation considers time delayed bubble-bubble interaction.

Dynamics of bubble-bubble interactions experiencing viscoelastic drag

Physical Review E, 2019
The subject of the present theoretical study is the dynamics of bubble-bubble interactions in a viscoelastic medium. First, new equations for calculating the viscoelastic drag exerted on bubbles during their translational motion in a viscoelastic medium are derived.

Bubble dynamics investigation in a slurry bubble column

AIChE Journal, 2008
AbstractThe application of four‐point optical probe has been for the first time extended to a slurry system in a 10.2‐cm ID column. Bubble dynamics (local gas holdup, bubble chord length, bubble velocity, bubble frequency, and specific interfacial area) were investigated using an air–water‐catalyst system under atmospheric pressure. With an increase in

Bubble Dynamics for Explosive Microthermal Dual Bubbles

Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems, 2007
Bubble dynamics of explosive microthermal dual bubbles including the growth and collapse process are investigated experimentally in detail. The dual bubbles are generated with supplied heat flux of 1.61 GW/m2 on two 30 times 60 mum2 heaters. The heaters are separated by different distances ranging from 25 to 125 mum.
