Problems of Measuring Gas Content in Oil in a Two-Phase Flow: A Review

open access: yesEnergies
In view of the necessity of measuring the air content in oil in two-phase flows in the context of general industry, a review of the most popular methods of measuring the air content in oil was carried out.

On the breakup of air bubbles in Hele-Shaw cell [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We study the problem of breakup of an air bubble in a Hele-Shaw cell. In particular, we propose some sufficient conditions of breakup of the bubble, and ways to find the contraction points of its parts. We also study regulated contraction of a pair of bubbles (in which the rates of air extraction from the bubbles is controlled), and study various ...

Fibrous Pb(II)‐Based Coordination Polymer Operable as a Photocatalyst and Electrocatalyst for High‐Rate, Selective CO2‐to‐Formate Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A coordination polymer [Pb(tadt)]n prepared by a microwave‐assisted solvothermal method selectively reduces CO2 into formate under visible light with a high apparent quantum yield of ≈25% at 400 nm. It can function as a pre‐catalyst, along with conductive Ketjen Black, to form an active PbCO3/Pb3(CO3)2(OH)2 mixture that exhibits a high Faradaic ...

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

Troubles with bubbles

open access: yesVision Research, 2004
The bubbles method is a recently developed variant of reverse correlation methods that have been used in psychophysics and physiology. We show mathematically that for the broad and important class of noisy linear observers, the bubbles method recovers much less information about how observers process stimuli than reverse correlation does.

Monetary Policy Effects on Energy Sector Bubbles

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
We investigate the effects of monetary policy shocks, including unconventional policy measures, on the bubbles of the energy sector, for the case of the United States.
