Effect of Embedment on the Plastic Behavior of Bucket Foundations
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 2015A series of comprehensive research and development projects has validated the novel concept of the bucket foundation as an alternative to piled foundations, and bucket foundations are rapidly becoming a viable option for offshore wind farms and marginal fields.Within the last decade, experimental studies have indicated the possibility of defining ...

Handling interference effects on foraging with bucket brigades
Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, 2017Many kinds of bio-inspired tasks have been tested with swarm robotics and task partitioning is one of the challenging subjects. In nature, it is well known that some colonies of social insects such as honeybees, termites, and ants use task partitioning strategies for their survival.

Effectiveness of leaky bucket policing mechanism
[Conference Record] SUPERCOMM/ICC '92 Discovering a New World of Communications, 2003The authors consider the effectiveness of policing functions in controlling congestion in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. A method for measuring the effectiveness of a policing scheme is proposed, and analytical and simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness and limitations of a multiple leaky bucket policing scheme.

Effectiveness of the 'leaky bucket' policing mechanism in ATM networks
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1991The performance of the leaky bucket, a device for controlling the source traffic parameters of an ATM network is analyzed. The most critical situation, i.e., an on/off bursty source, is assumed. Moreover, the delay jitter introduced by a possible multiplexing of sources inside the customer premises network is not considered.

Effect of particle size on flip bucket scour
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2016This study quantifies the dimensionless maximum scour depth ds/D50 downstream of flip buckets as a function of the square of the densimetric Froude number Frd2, jet Reynolds number Re, lip angle, and sediment non-uniformity constant. The proposed formula is valid for Frd = 2.9–29.69, Re = 8.9 × 103–4.2 × 105, and We > 32.

Effect of partial drainage on the pullout behaviour of a suction bucket foundation
European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering, 2021Suction-bucket-supported jacket foundations are being used increasingly for offshore wind turbines, the advantages being large bearing capacity and efficient installation.

The effect of variance reduction on the performance of the leaky bucket
Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Communications ICC '95, 2002The leaky bucket (LB) is emerging as the best possible candidate for implementing the policing mechanism in ATM networks. However, it exhibits a strong coupling between two conflicting requirements, viz., accurate average rate enforcement and prompt reaction to sudden bursts.

Effect of belt/bucket interface in apple harvesting
International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, 2006Abstract Migrant and seasonal orchard harvest workers experience musculoskeletal strain caused by carrying heavily loaded buckets and holding awkward postures. An ergonomic hip belt has been shown (both in this and previous studies) to significantly assist in redistributing weight from the shoulders to the hips.

Effects of embedment depth on the pullout capacity of bucket foundations in sand
Ocean Engineering, 2021Abstract A series of 1 g experimental tests was conducted to investigate the effects of embedment depth on the pullout capacity of bucket foundations in sand. Polycarbonate model buckets with a constant diameter of 150 mm and length-to-diameter (L/D) ratios of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 were employed varying loading rates from 0.002 N/s to 4.1 N/s.
