Longitudinal Space Charge Effects in RF Buckets

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1967
Longitudinal space charge effects in RF buckets have been studied by means of an IBM 704 computer program. This program simulates the motion of the particles in a beam under the influences of space charge forces and RF fields. Initially, the beam is given a small perturbation to excite a particular mode.

Buckets of Resistance: Standards and the Effectiveness of Citizen Science

Science, Technology, & Human Values, 2009
In light of arguments that citizen science has the potential to make environmental knowledge and policy more robust and democratic, this article inquires into the factors that shape the ability of citizen science to actually influence scientists and decision makers.

Effective Interpretation of Bucket Testing Results through Big Data Analytics

2013 IEEE International Congress on Big Data, 2013
Bucket testing is a common practice in the internet industry, where new features and services are tested by exposing them to a randomly selected small subset of users. However, in this simple version of bucket testing, since a very small fraction of the total users are selected through uniform independent sampling of the population, the samples chosen,

Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Cable Excavator Bucket Swing Mechanism

2018
The paper presents the results of experimental and analytical study of the innovative, non-driven mechanism of the cable excavator bucket swing. This required a mathematical model of the digging workflow to be complemented with the necessary technical characteristics of the working body elements, including hydraulic cylinders, performing the role of ...

Prediction of Unsteady Force for Axial Turbine Buckets (Effects of Nozzle-Bucket Axial Gap Length and Blade Count Ratio)

Volume 5B: Oil and Gas Applications; Steam Turbines, 2013
The purpose of this study is to investigate the unsteady force acting on steam turbine buckets which is induced by a potential field and a wake. The authors have already proposed a new method that can separate the unsteady force into a potential field interaction and a wake interaction from the unsteady viscous flow computation.

Variable bucket representation of TOPMODEL and investigation of the effects of rainfall heterogeneity

Hydrological Processes, 1997
In this paper we present a variable bucket capacity (VBC) representation of TOPMODEL (Beven and Kirkby, 1979), generalizing the Manabe ‘simple bucket’ scheme widely used in climate models. In doing this, we have been motivated by the variable infiltration capacity (VIC) model presented by Wood et al. (1992).

Effect of the siphon control on the dynamic characteristics of a tipping bucket raingauge

Hydrological Sciences Journal, 1994
Abstract This paper deals with the dynamic characteristics of the siphon which is usually applied to control the movement of rain water from the collecting funnel of a raingauge to the compartments of the tipping bucket. Since commercially available tipping bucket raingauges suffer from nonlinearity, a modified siphon has been tested. The dimensions of

There’s a Hole in the Bucket: The Effective Elimination of the Inequitable Conduct Doctrine

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2012
In 2011, the combination of both Therasense, Inc. v. Becton Dickinson and Co.1 and the enactment of the America Invents Act (AIA)2 effectively eliminated the judicial doctrine of inequitable conduct in patent cases. In order to obtain a patent, applicants have been long had a duty of candor before the U.S.

Effect of Flexible Rotor Bucket Design on Savonius Turbine Performance

Volume 13: Heat Transfer: General Interest / Additive Manufacturing Impacts on Heat Transfer; Wind Energy
Abstract Savonius wind turbines are simple and robust devices suitable for a variety of climate conditions. Due to their low noise emission, they can be used in urban areas close to end users. However, their biggest drawback is their relatively low aerodynamic performance.
