Buckling-Induced Kirigami. [PDF]
We investigate the mechanical response of thin sheets perforated with a square array of mutually orthogonal cuts, which leaves a network of squares connected by small ligaments.

Buckling of Spherical Capsules [PDF]
We investigate buckling of soft elastic capsules under negative pressure or for reduced capsule volume. Based on nonlinear shell theory and the assumption of a hyperelastic capsule membrane, shape equations for axisymmetric and initially spherical ...

We study the mechanical buckling of a two dimensional membrane coated with a thin layer of superfluid. It is seen that a singularity (vortex or anti-vortex defect) in the phase of the quantum order parameter, distorts the membrane metric into a negative conical singularity surface, irrespective of the defect sign.

Buckling of swelling gels [PDF]
The patterns arising from the differential swelling of gels are investigated experimentally and theoretically as a model for the differential growth of living tissues. Two geometries are considered: a thin strip of soft gel clamped to a stiff gel, and a thin corona of soft gel clamped to a disk of stiff gel. When the structure is immersed in water, the

Nonlinear Euler buckling [PDF]
The buckling of hyperelastic incompressible cylindrical tubes of arbitrary length and thickness under compressive axial load is considered within the framework of nonlinear elasticity. Analytical and numerical methods for bifurcation are developed using the exact solution of Wilkes for the linearized problem within the Stroh formalism.

Prediction for elastic local buckling stress and ultimate strength of H-section beam
The local stability of the H-section beam is essentially determined by the width-thickness ratios of flange and web. Current design codes provide width-thickness ratio limits to classify sectional ranks regarding local buckling.

A basic study on buckling evaluation method for plate structures
In this paper, we have proposed a simple buckling evaluation method for plate structures of which original shapes and boundary conditions do not change before buckling, and buckling modes of the plates are uniform along longitudinal directions of the ...

Numerical research on the lateral global buckling characteristics of a high temperature and pressure pipeline with two initial imperfections. [PDF]
With the exploitation of offshore oil and gas gradually moving to deep water, higher temperature differences and pressure differences are applied to the pipeline system, making the global buckling of the pipeline more serious.

Effect of Post-Buckling on The Stiffness and Stress of Plate [PDF]
This paper presents a theoretical investigation of post and pre-buckling of the simply supported plate. The effect of post and pre buckling on the stiffness of plate is determined.
