Buckling, postbuckling, and nonlinear vibrations of imperfect plates
AIAA Journal, 1987Formulations and computational procedures are presented for studying the geometrically nonlinear behavior, including buckling, postbuckling, and nonlinear vibrations of perfect and imperfect, isotropic and laminated thin plates. The finite-element method is used.

Finite strip buckling and postbuckling analysis
1995The finite strip method (FSM) is an effective procedure for the numerical analysis of single rectangular plates and of complicated prismatic plate structures. Figure 4.1 shows examples of such plates and plate structures, each modelled by a number of finite strips which run the whole length of the structure.

Buckling and postbuckling of thin elliptical anisotropic plates
Computers & Structures, 1993Summary: The Rayleigh-Ritz method has been used to analyse the buckling and postbuckling behaviour of thin elliptical anisotropic plates. Different layups and ellipse orientations were analysed and compared with finite element results showing good agreement in displacements and total energies in the postbuckled regime.

Buckling and Postbuckling of Thin-Walled Composite Stiffeners
International Journal of Space Structures, 1991A review is given of the different types of symmetry exhibited by the prebuckling, buckling and postbuckling responses of composite stiffeners. A simple and efficient computational strategy is presented for generating both the postbuckling response and the sensitivity derivatives, with respect to lamination and material parameters, in the presence of ...

Non-linear buckling and postbuckling of elastic arches
Engineering Structures, 1998This paper investigates the non-linear in-plane buckling and postbuckling behaviour of elastic arches using a curved finite element model for the non-linear analysis of elastic arches, which includes the effects of prebuckling deformations and second-order terms in the deformed curvatures and bending strains. It is found that the effects of prebuckling

Buckling and postbuckling behavior of steep compressible arches
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1973Abstract The bifurcation buckling and postbuckling behavior of steep, compressible, circular arches is examined. The arches are loaded with a uniform constant directional pressure and may be either pinned or clamped. The development is based on Koiter's theory.

Buckling and postbuckling of stiffened elements with uncertainty
Thin-Walled Structures, 1996The buckling and postbuckling behaviour of thin-walled stiffened elements under uniform compression with geometric and material uncertainties are examined. The uncertainties in the geometry can arise from tolerances in cold forming, and the ones in material properties result from the uncertain values of the maximum stress at buckling and from the ...
