Non‐Buckling Stacks of Nanocarbon Molecules

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A nanometer‐sized nanocarbon molecule with a central octagon was synthesized by optimizing a tetrameric macrocyclization via concentration‐dependent yield analysis (CYAN). The slightly contorted molecular structure was found to be frozen in a dimeric stack in solution, whereas dissociation into monomers liberated the molecule to undergo buckling ...

Beyond the Camera: Epidermal Sensor Platforms for Intelligent Facial Expression Recognition and Interactive Human Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Skin‐conformal epidermal sensors enable camera‐free intelligent facial monitoring by converting facial deformation and muscle activity into electrical signals through piezoresistive, capacitive, electrophysiologic, and self‐powered mechanisms. Coupled with artificial intelligence (AI), these platforms support facial expression recognition, human ...

Fluxional Monomers Remodel Crystallinity at Low Loadings in Diketopyrrolopyrrole Co‐Thienothiophene Conjugated Polymers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Bullvalene is a fluxional molecule capable of adopting numerous conformations spontaneously; just like a Rubik's Cube. In this paper, we explore the incorporation of bullvalene into the backbone of a highly rigid conjugated polymer semiconductor and observe that the inherent fluxionality reduces average crystallite size.

A Hierarchical, Model‐Based System for High‐Performance Humanoid Soccer

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A hierarchical model‐based humanoid soccer system built on ARTEMIS integrates compliant mechanism design, in‐gait kicking, perception, localization, collision‐aware navigation, and behavior planning. Hardware–software codesign aligns mechanical design and control strategy with the requirements of autonomous soccer.

Balancing Exploration and Exploitation Through a Sequential Hybrid of Roach Infestation and Mayfly Algorithms for Constrained Engineering Design Optimization

open access: yesAI &Innovation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Maintaining an effective balance between exploration and exploitation is essential during optimization processes, from mathematical functions to more complex problems such as constrained engineering design optimization, particularly when addressing highly nonlinear issues with numerous local optima and strict feasibility requirements.
