Universality in the buckling behavior of drying suspension drops
Soft Matter, 2023Buckling of fast drying, suspension drops depends on drop volume, particle size and modulus, surface tension and particle packing. Buckling is controlled by a competition between capillary force and elastic deformation of the particle-packed shell.

Numerical simulation of inelastic shell buckling and post-buckling behavior

Behavior of Buckled Rectangular Plates
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1960Theoretical and experimental results which indicate possible changes in buckle pattern are given for simply supported plates in longitudinal compression; results of separate analysis of phenomenon of change in buckle pattern; detailed analysis of stiffness in shear of plate buckled in compression.

Buckling and Post-buckling Behavior of a Pipe Subjected to Internal Pressure
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1995It is well known that a thin elastic shell under external pressure may undergo buckling and collapse. Less well known is that a hollow beam under internal pressure may buckle as an Euler column. This is the subject of the present study. The buckled deflection and natural frequency about the buckled configuration of a vertical pipe with clamped (y-axis)

Inelastic buckling and post-buckling behavior of gusset plate connections
Steel and Composite Structures, 2016In this study, by using finite element non-linear static analysis and comparing it with experimental models, the buckling and post-buckling behavior of bracing gusset plates has been investigated. The effects of such parameters as dimension and thickness of the gusset plate and the influence of position of the bracing member on the behavior of gusset ...

Buckling and Post-Buckling Behavior for Roof Strata in Longwall Mining
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012In accordance with the occurrence behavior of roof strata and the fracture characteristics of key stratum in shallow seam longwall mining, this paper studied the post-buckling behaviors of key roof stratum in the process of mining by using initial post-buckling theory, which derived a critical load and a breaking span of the main roof during the first ...

Theory of Buckling and Post-Buckling Behavior of Elastic Structures
1974Publisher Summary The general theory of buckling and post-buckling behavior of elastic structures has led to a considerable amount of research in this field. A comprehensive survey provides a very useful bibliography, together with an overview of the achievements, status, and goals of post-buckling theory.

Post-Buckling Behavior of a Thick Circular Plate
AIAA Journal, 1984In the present work, the previously derived nonlinear equations [the authors, ibid. 21, 1317-1324 (1983; Zbl 0543.73089)] of a transversely isotropic circular thick plate in a general state of nonuniform initial stress are used. The post-buckling problems of both simply supported and clamped axisymmetric circular plates subjected to uniform in-plane ...

Buckling Behavior of Elastomeric Bearings
1993A multilayer elastomeric bearing can be susceptible to a buckling type of instability similar to that of an ordinary column, but dominated by the low-shear stiffness of a bearing. The previous analysis of the overall deformation of a single pad can be used in a buckling analysis that treats the bearing as a continuous composite system. In this analysis,
