Analysis of the critical instability load of freeze pipes in coal mine shaft freezing engineering [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Low-carbon steel freeze pipes, essential refrigerant conduits in artificial ground freezing, are thin-walled cylindrical structures susceptible to buckling and weld failure.

On Critical Buckling Loads of Columns under End Load Dependent on Direction. [PDF]

open access: yesInt Sch Res Notices, 2014
Most of the phenomena of various fields of applied sciences are nonlinear problems. Recently, various types of analytical approximate solution techniques were introduced and successfully applied to the nonlinear differential equations. One of the aforementioned techniques is the Homotopy analysis method (HAM).

Stability Analysis of High-Pile and high-pier Considering Initial Pier Deviation [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2021
Based on the high-pile and high-pier bridge of Qianhuang Expressway, eigenvalue buckling analysis is carried out by establishing three-dimensional finite element models of three different bridge types and high-pier types, and the corresponding structural

Lifting, Loading, and Buckling in Conical Shells

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
Liquid crystal elastomer films that morph into cones are strikingly capable lifters. Thus motivated, we combine theory, numerics, and experiments to reexamine the load-bearing capacity of conical shells. We show that a cone squashed between frictionless surfaces buckles at a smaller load, even in scaling, than the classical Seide/Koiter result.

Buckling analysis of angle-ply multilayered and sandwich plates using the enhanced Refined Zigzag Theory [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2022
The recent enhancement of the standard Refined Zigzag Theory (RZT), herein named the enhanced Refined Zigzag Theory (en-RZT), has extended the range of applicability of the RZT to angle-ply multilayered and sandwich plates.

Nonlinear Buckling of Fixed Functionally Graded Material Arches Under a Locally Uniformly Distributed Radial Load

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2021
Functionally graded material (FGM) arches may be subjected to a locally radial load and have different material distributions leading to different nonlinear in-plane buckling behavior.

Dynamic buckling analysis of reinforced composite plate subjected to harmonic loads

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2023
Composite plates are high-tech structures used in many areas of modern engineering, like building, space travel, ships, etc. In practice, these structures are often used in their thin form, typically a reinforced composite plate subjected to dynamic ...

Buckling load optimization for 2D continuum models, with alternative formulation for buckling load estimation [PDF]

open access: yesStructural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, 2018
Buckling load estimation of continua modeled by finite element (FE) should be based on non-linear equilibrium. When such equilibrium is obtained by incremental solutions and when sensitivity analysis as well as iterative redesigns are included, the computational demands are large especially due to optimization.
