Creep Buckling Under Varying Loads
Creep buckling analyses under stepwise varying loads are performed on a circular cylindrical shell with initial imperfection subjected to axial compression and a partial spherical shell under uniform external pressure. The finite element method is applied to a creep deformation analysis to obtain the critical time when creep buckling occurs.

Nonlinear Instability Behavior and Buckling of Shallow Arches Under Gradient Thermo-Mechanical Loads
This paper investigates the nonlinear behavior and buckling of shallow arches under gradient thermal and mechanical loading. The gradient temperature varies continuously along the thickness of the cross section of the arch but uniformly distributes over ...

A Fuzzy-Set Approach to Buckling Analysis of Composite Structures
A fuzzy-set approach conjugated with finite element analysis is used to investigate the influence of the variability (random field) of geometric and material properties on buckling loads understood as one of possible failure modes for composite ...

An imbedding method for buckling loads
AbstractAn imbedding method for determining the critical length of buckling columns is presented. The method can be applied to a large class of problems and requires the integration of only one initial value equation. Integration proceeds until the integral becomes excessively large, indicating that the critical length has been reached. Alternately the

Nondestructive Prediction of the Buckling Load of Imperfect Shells [PDF]
From soda cans to space rockets, thin-walled cylindrical shells are abundant, offering exceptional load carrying capacity at relatively low weight. However, the actual load at which any shell buckles and collapses is very sensitive to imperceptible defects and can not be predicted, which challenges the reliable design of such structures.

Single Variable Thick Plate Buckling Problems Using Double Finite Sine Transform Method [PDF]
This paper derives buckling solutions for single variable thick plate buckling problems using the double finite sine transform method (DFSTM). The problem governing partial differential equation (GPDE), originally formulated by Shimpi and others, uses a ...
