Here, it is shown that focused ion beam induced deposition (FIBID) using helium and neon ions enables advanced high‐resolution 3D nanoprinting achieving precise multimaterial architectures and engineered internal voids. Thus, FIBID with finely focused noble gas ion species is presented as a unique platform for designing functional nanomaterials for ...

Scaling of the buckling transition of ridges in thin sheets
When a thin elastic sheet crumples, the elastic energy condenses into a network of folding lines and point vertices. These folds and vertices have elastic energy densities much greater than the surrounding areas, and most of the work required to crumple ...

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

An approximate buckling analysis for rectangular orthotropic plates with centrally located cutouts [PDF]
An approximate analysis for predicting buckling of rectangular orthotropic composite plates with centrally located cutouts is presented. In this analysis, prebuckling and buckling problems are converted from a two-dimensional to a one-dimensional system ...

A stress‐normalised sensitivity metric (S = G/Y) is introduced as a materials‐level benchmark for intrinsically piezoresistive nanocomposites. By decoupling electromechanical response (G) from stiffness (Y), the framework enables direct comparison across diverse systems and clarifies design trade‐offs for wearable sensors.

On a novel approach for optimizing composite materials panel using surrogate models [PDF]
This paper describes an optimization procedure to design thermoplastic composite panels under axial compressive load conditions. Minimum weight is the goal. The panel design is subject to buckling constraints.

A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.
