Local Buckling Failure of Buried Pipeline under the Action of Oblique-slip Fault
In practice, many pipelines will cross oblique-slip faults, but presently there is little research on the buckling failure of buried pipelines under the action of both horizontal and vertical oblique-slip faults. Therefore, based on ABAQUS finite element ...

On Non-Axisymmetric Buckling Modes of Inhomogeneous Circular Plates
Unsymmetrical buckling of nonuniform circular plates with elastically restrained edge and subjected to normal pressure is studied in this paper. The asymmetric part of the solution is sought in terms of multiples of the harmonics of the angular coordinate.

Frequency jumps in the planar vibrations of an elastic beam [PDF]
The small amplitude transverse vibrations of an elastic beam clamped at both extremities are studied. The beam is modeled as an extensible, shearable planar Kirchhoff elastic rod under large displacements and rotations, and the vibration frequencies are ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Metabolic changes in immune cells direct the phenotype and function of the host immune system. Smart nanomaterials must target metabolic pathways to direct immune cell fate. This study reports the fabrication and first application of germanane quantum dots (GeHQDs) to modulate inflammation in vitro and in vivo.

Adaptive 4D‐Printed Vascular Stents With Low‐Temperature‐Activated and Intelligent Deployment
Microarchitected coronary artery stents were fabricated using a polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based shape memory polymer (SMP) composite via projection micro‐stereolithography (PµSL) 4D printing. By incorporating diethyl phthalate (DEP) as a plasticizer, the thermal transition temperature (Ttran) was modulated to about 37°C, enabling rapid and autonomous ...

Mode-Reduction Applied to Initial Post-Buckling Behavior
This paper presents a perturbation approach for analyzing the (initial) post-buckling behavior of elastic structures. In this perturbation a small number of buckling modes is taken into account. This approach results in a potential energy function which is defined in terms of amplitudes of the selected modes.

The Buckling of Single-Layer MoS2 Under Uniaxial Compression
Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the buckling of single-layer MoS2 under uniaxial compression. The strain rate is found to play an important role on the critical buckling strain, where higher strain rate leads to larger ...
