Prediction for elastic local buckling stress and ultimate strength of H-section beam [PDF]

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
The local stability of the H-section beam is essentially determined by the width-thickness ratios of flange and web. Current design codes provide width-thickness ratio limits to classify sectional ranks regarding local buckling.

Liner Pressure Test Buckling Generation and Influences on Running String and Cement Quality of Previous Casing in Vertical Wells [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2023
Buckling occurrence during liner pressure test represents a challenge, in addition to running string deformation; previous casing cement quality may be severely affected.

Approximate estimation of stresses and displacements of a thin-walled square cross-section beam after torsional buckling

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2022
It is important to estimate the strength of the vehicle structure in the initial design stage of the vehicle development. The buckling of the plate is known to occurs in thin-walled structures before yielding, however, the structures can withstand loads ...

Local buckling behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotubes encapsulating C60 fullerenes

open access: yesCarbon Trends, 2023
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have a hollow structure and high aspect ratio. Generally, buckling under axial compression is dependent on the dimensions and chirality of the CNT and materials encapsulated in the hollow space.

Overdamped stress relaxation in buckled rods [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
We present a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the stress relaxation in a multiply but weakly buckled incompressible rod in a viscous solvent. In the bulk two interesting regimes of generic self--similar intermediate asymptotics are distinguished, which give rise to two classes of approximate and exact power--law solutions, respectively.

Analysis of Buckling Deformation for the Side Plate of Rectangular CSFT Column Based on Plate Theory with Bi-Axial Loads

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
In this paper, under the condition of bidirectional stress, the buckling deformation of the side plate in a rectangular concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) column has been studied in detail.

Macro Stress Mapping on Thin Film Buckling [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Science Forum, 2002
Thin films deposited by Physical Vapour Deposition techniques on substrates generally exhibit large residual stresses which may be responsible of thin film buckling in the case of compressive stresses. Since the 80's, a lot of theoretical work has been done to develop mechanical models but only a few experimental work has been done on this subject to ...

Numerical Simulation of Buckling and Post-Buckling Behavior of a Central Notched Thin Aluminum Foil with Nonlinearity in Consideration

open access: yesMetals, 2020
In thin notched sheets under tensile loading, wrinkling appears on the sheet surface, specifically around the cracked area. This is due to local buckling and compression stresses near the crack surfaces.
