Delaying bud break in ‘Edelweiss’ grapevines to avoid spring frost injury by NAA and vegetable oil applications

open access: yesAdvances in Horticultural Science, 2013
Delaying bud break is an approach to avoid spring frost damage. Field experiments were conducted during the winters of 2009 and 2010 at James Arthur Vineyards in Raymond, Nebraska to study the effect of spraying naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and Amigo ...

The MADS-Box Gene MdDAM1 Controls Growth Cessation and Bud Dormancy in Apple

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Apple trees require a long exposure to chilling temperature during winter to acquire competency to flower and grow in the following spring. Climate change or adverse meteorological conditions can impair release of dormancy and delay bud break, hence ...

Effects of Fall Fertilizer Applications of Mitotic Index and Bud Dormancy of Loblolly Pine Seedlings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A series of studies examined the effects of fall fertilization with diammoniwn phosphate (DAP) on mitotic index and bud donnancy [as measured by mean days to budbreak (DBB)] of two half-sib seed sources of loblolly pine.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Combined effects of short-day treatment and fall fertilization on growth, nutrient status, and spring bud break of Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry, 2017
Although effects of short-day treatment and fall fertilization on seedling development have been studied independently, their combined influences are not well elucidated.

Verbetering trekresultaten van vroege trek bij Viburnum opulus "Roseum" (sneeuwbal): Onderzoek naar bloemknopontwikkeling en koubehoefte voor rustdoorbreking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In the early forcing of Viburnum opulus 'Roseum' (Snowball), results are sometimes disappointing: only a few or sometimes none of the buds develop into inflorescences, or so-called 'grass balls' emerge. At the request of the growers and with funding from
