Postnatal developmental changes in the laryngeal chemosensory cell clusters of rats

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 769-786, October 2026.
Chemosensory cell clusters appeared in the rat larynx 2 days after birth and were already connected to afferent nerve fibers. Their number increased until 3 weeks of age, then stabilized while continuing to grow through the addition of new cells. Because their number reached a plateau around the time of weaning, their development may be linked to ...

De Novo Discovery of Bioactive Cyclic Peptides via Cellular Selection of Genetically Encoded Libraries

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Genetically encoded cyclic peptide libraries can be employed in cellular selection platforms to identify cyclic peptide inhibitors for therapeutic targets by directly selecting for desired biological activities. This review systematically summarizes representative studies and suggests future opportunities for using cellular selection for de novo cyclic

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 600, Issue 17, Page 2437-2450, September 2026.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Budding yeast model.

open access: yes, 2013
Budding yeast cell cycle network model [13] for comparison with our model of fission yeast. This network relies on transcriptional regulation more than the fission yeast network.

An off-lattice discrete model to characterise filamentous yeast colony morphology.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology
We combine an off-lattice agent-based mathematical model and experimentation to explore filamentous growth of a yeast colony. Under environmental stress, Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells can transition from a bipolar (sated) to unipolar (pseudohyphal)

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 1669-1690, September 2026.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 1752-1765, September 2026.
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

RNA‐Binding Protein RBM25 Targets the mRNA Stability of GTPase Rab22a to Restrict Viral Entry and Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 51, 14 September 2026.
This study identifies RNA‐binding protein RBM25 as a broad‐spectrum antiviral factor acting independently of type I interferon. It blocks viral entry by suppressing GTPase Rab22a via the RC3H1‐mediated destabilization of Rab22a mRNA. Viral downregulation of RBM25 enhances GTPase Rab22a expression and viral entry, revealing an unreported post ...

Natural Variation of COLD and CATECHINS REGULATOR 1 Coordinately Fine‐Tunes Cold Tolerance and Tea Quality in Tea Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 52, 18 September 2026.
Multi‐trait genome‐wide association mapping identifies a central hub regulator, COLD AND CATECHINS REGULATOR 1 (CCR1), and its excellent natural allele variation, coordinately enhancing cold tolerance and promoting catechins biosyntheis. CsCCR1 interacts with CsCBF1/3 and is transcriptionally activated by CsLUX and CsKUA1 to promote catechins ...

Functional Suppression of SCAP Triggers Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress‐Dependent Ferroptosis by Impairing Cholesterol Metabolism in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 52, 18 September 2026.
This study reveals a novel GC therapy targeting cholesterol homeostasis. Inhibiting the SCAP sterol‐sensing domain causes lethal ER stress via cholesterol accumulation, paradoxically forcing continuous synthesis that triggers ferroptosis. The findings link sterol sensing, metabolic dysregulation, and ferroptosis, establishing an anti‐cancer paradigm ...
