Functionally Relevant Feeding Enrichment: An Examination of Nectar Feeding Devices With Two Species of Parrot

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Nectar‐based feeding devices increased aerial activity and bucket use while reducing bowl use in rainbow lorikeets but produced little behavioural change in regent parrots. Species‐specific feeding enrichment promotes natural foraging behaviour and may improve welfare in captive nectarivorous parrots.

A Rare Case of Cutaneous Infection by Corynascus verrucosus in a Shih Tzu Dog: Molecular Identification and Phylogenetic Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
A 4‐year‐old Shih Tzu presented with severe pruritus, erythema, scaling and diffuse dorsal alopecia. A rare fungal isolate was recovered from the cutaneous lesion and showed characteristic colonies and verrucose conidia. ITS1–5.8S–ITS2 sequencing (GenBank PV082530) showed similarity to Corynascus verrucosus.

Role oƒ GABA metabolism enzymes during stress, aging and apoptosis in budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yes, 2014
The γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a non-proteic aminoacid synthesized by almost all living organisms. GABA metabolism, known as “GABA shunt” involves three enzymes: glutamate decarboxylase (GAD), GABA aminotransferase (GAT) and succinate semialdehyde ...

Personalization and Fortification of In‐Space Manufactured Emulsified Beverages for Long‐Term Space Travel

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The current trend of individualized food items (nutrient content and flavor) can be particularly valuable to support people's health and well‐being in isolated environments where access to fresh foods and diverse nutrition is difficult. At the same time, bioactive compounds and micronutrients can be employed to countermeasure any health ...
