The Expenditure Impacts of London-based Individual Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and their Students on the Economy of England : Homogeneity or Heterogeneity? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper replicates the analysis of Scottish HEIs in Hermannsson et al (2010a) to identify the impact of London-based HEIs on the English economy in order to provide a self-contained analysis that is readily accessible by those whose primary concern is

Self‐Powered Bearing Sensing and Real‐Time Fault Diagnosis Enabled by Non‐Invasive Triboelectric Sensors and Edge AI Acceleration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study achieves the synergistic integration of self‐powered sensing and edge AI acceleration to establish a real‐time fault diagnosis system. The proposed TENG‐based self‐powered bearing sensor (NSE‐TBS) and FPGA‐accelerated edge AI framework fundamentally break through the inherent limitations of conventional monitoring systems, including complex ...

Revisiting Target‐Aware de novo Molecular Generation with TarPass: Between Rational Design and Texas Sharpshooter

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TarPass provides a rigorous benchmark for target‐aware de novo molecular generation by jointly evaluating protein‐ligand interactions, molecular plausibility, and drug‐likeness on 18 well‐studied targets. Results show that current models often fail to consistently surpass random baseline in target‐specific enrichment, while post hoc multi‐tier virtual ...

Data‐Driven Modeling of Composition–Processing–Microstructure Relations for Recycled Aluminum Cast Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interpretable machine learning reveals how composition and processing govern the formation and microstructural burden of Fe‐rich intermetallic compounds in recycled Al–Si–Fe–Mn alloys. By separating morphology selection from morphology‐conditioned burden partitioning, this framework shows that identical Fe contents can yield different intermetallic ...

SpaMode: A Broadly Applicable Framework for Deciphering Spatial Multi‐Omics Using Multimodal Mixture of Disentangled Experts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SpaMode introduces a versatile framework for spatial multi‐omics integration across vertical, horizontal, and mosaic scenarios. By disentangling modality‐invariant and variant features through a mixture‐of‐experts mechanism, it adaptively reconfigures spatially heterogeneous signals.

Financing threatened species management: the costs of single species programmes and the budget constraint [PDF]

open access: yes
In New Zealand total annual funding allows 15 percent of the 2,400 threatened species to be targeted for management. Although management costs are crucial to a conservation organisation's ability to achieve its goals, estimates of costs are not usually ...

Physics‐Constrained Constitutive Learning of Rate‐Limiting Timescales for Efficient Hydrogen‐Based Direct Reduction for Green Steel Making

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A conversion‐resolved constitutive framework is developed for the hydrogen‐based direct reduction of iron oxide pellets. Effective reaction and transport timescales are inferred directly from measured trajectories and mapped against operating conditions, pellet architecture, and composition. The analysis reveals how late‐stage transport control emerges
