Building data warehouses with semantic data
Proceedings of the 2010 EDBT/ICDT Workshops, 2010The Semantic Web has become a new environment that enables organizations to attach semantic annotations taken from ontologies to the information they generate. As a result, large amounts of complex, semi-structured and heterogeneous semantic data repositories are being made available, making necessary new data warehouse tools for analyzing the Semantic

Proceedings of the 2017 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2017
In this paper we analyze the role of physical scale models in the architectural design process and apply insights from architecture for the creation and use of data physicalizations. Based on a survey of the architecture literature on model making and ten interviews with practicing architects, we describe the role of physical models as a tool for ...

Building the IMPROVE data library
IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 1997Well-characterized and comprehensive test data sets are essential in the development and evaluation of biosignal interpretation methods for intensive-care patient monitoring. The IMPROVE (IMPROVing control of patient status in critical carE) data library is an annotated data library that contains practically all the monitored and other clinical data ...

Linked data for building management
IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2016In the life cycle of buildings, plenty of different disciplines and companies are involved. Therefore, a unified information base for the whole building and its components and technical equipment is highly beneficial. One approach aiming at this goal is Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Building Networks with Microarray Data
2009This chapter describes methods for learning gene interaction networks from high-throughput gene expression data sets. Many genes have unknown or poorly understood functions and interactions, especially in diseases such as cancer where the genome is frequently mutated. The gene interactions inferred by learning a network model from the data can form the

Like in private sector, the promise of data science swept government by storm. Teams were recruited under a simple assumption: good things can happen if you give smart, eager people some data. Indeed, the earliest data scientists in public sector had the opportunity of a lifetime to explore untapped datasets and affect change.

Buildings detection from lidar data
2015 International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE), 2015In this paper, we present a novel method for building detection using Lidar point clouds. The proposed method uses SFTA features to identify buildings contours. The evaluations carried out on the ISPRS LIDAR reference data set, show high detection performances (89 percent).
