Driving rain on building envelopes - I. Numerical estimation and full-scale experimental verification

open access: yes, 2000
An accurate method for the quantification of real-life driving rain loads on building envelopes from generally available climatic data such as wind speed, wind direction and horizontal rainfall intensity serves various purposes, from the development of ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Aqueous mid-infrared electrically switchable opaque building envelopes for all-season radiative thermoregulation

open access: yes, 2022
Radiative thermoregulation has been considered a promising approach for reducing the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) energy consumption of buildings and solving the global climate change issues.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Climate data for hygrothermal simulations of Brussels

open access: yesData in Brief, 2022
Moisture is a dominant agent in the degradation of building components. To assess degradation phenomena in building envelopes, hygrothermal simulations are performed.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
