A simple way to make pre-stressed ceramics with high strength

open access: yesJournal of Materiomics, 2019
A pre-stressing design and a simple fabrication technology to substantially improve the strength of ceramic components are presented. Residual surface compressive stress is generated in ceramic components by pressureless sintering of a green bulk coated ...

Sustainable Use of Natural Resources In Construction Works: a Case Study of Social Housing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Optimizing the use of resources in the building process is a current problem and is also highly regarded in the latest European legislation. The problem can be tackled by minimizing waste production, promoting waste recovery and transforming waste into ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

The kinetic competition between transport and oxidation of ferrous ions governs precipitation of corrosion products in carbonated concrete

open access: yesRILEM Technical Letters, 2018
Corrosion products, originating from steel corrosion and precipitating in the concrete pore system, can lead to concrete cracking and to spalling of the concrete cover. Related premature structural repair causes high costs.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.
