Quality of tomatoes under different transportation conditions by principal component analysis

open access: yesRevista Ceres, 2020
Bulk transportation of tomatoes is a step with high occurrence of mechanical impacts, leading to increased losses and reduction in the quality of fruits arriving at the industry and reaching the consumer market.

A Queue with Random Arrivals and Scheduled Bulk Departures

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1968
Summary The distributions of queue length and waiting time of a customer are considered for the queue where customers arrive at random, wait in the order of arrival and are scheduled to be served in batches by a single server during equal intervals.

Modeling and Forecasting Secondary User Activity Considering Bulk Arrival and Bulk Departure Traffic Model [PDF]

open access: yes2009 IEEE 70th Vehicular Technology Conference Fall, 2009
In this paper, we consider an Erlangian process model for secondary user (SU) traffic in a cognitive radio network (CRN). Unlike prior efforts that focused on Poisson traffic models, the model captures bulk arrival and departure scenarios in a frequency band that is open for opportunistic use by multiple secondary users.

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Simulating the Effects of Urban Parameterizations on the Passage of a Cold Front During a Pollution Episode in Megacity Shanghai

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
Urbanization significantly influences meteorological conditions and air quality. Statistically, air pollution in the megacity of Shanghai usually occurs with cold weather fronts.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Analyzing the Two-Phase Heterogeneous and Batch Service Queuing System with Breakdown in Two-Phases, Feedback, and Vacation

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم
Customers are arriving at the system in bulk according to the Poisson process with rate λ1. The batch service process is split into two phases called first essential service (FES) and second essential service (SES) with minimum server capacity ′a′ and ...

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.
