Analysis of Vehicle Holding and Cancellation Strategies in Bulk Arrival, Bulk Service Queues

A general class of vehicle dispatching strategies for bulk arrival, bulk service queues is examined which consist of some combination of vehicle holding and cancellation strategies. The moments of the length of the queue at vehicle departure instants and in continuous time are solved for exactly using transform methods.

Bulk Server Queues with Markov Renewal Type of Service

Summary: We present a class of bulk server queueing models encountered in material handling and public transportation systems. Customers arrive according to the Poisson process and server visits form a Markov renewal process. Results for the queue length at steady state are obtained and a numerical example using observed data is presented.

A Priority Queue with General Bulk Service

This paper deals with priority queue with general bulk service rule. Priority and non-priority units are served by two identical servers. If a priority unit on arrival finds that (i) both the servers are busy, it balks and is considered lost to the system, (ii) one or both servers are free, it immediately goes to selvice.
