A Three-arm Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing Continuous Femoral Plus Single-injection Sciatic Peripheral Nerve Blocks versus Periarticular Injection with Ropivacaine or Liposomal Bupivacaine for Patients Undergoing Total Knee Arthroplasty

Anesthesiology, 2017
Background: Multimodal analgesia is standard practice for total knee arthroplasty; however, the role of regional techniques in improved perioperative outcomes remains unknown.

Epidural fentanyl-bupivacaine compared with clonidine-bupivacaine for analgesia in labour

European Journal of Anaesthesiology, 2000
Alpha-adrenergic agonists produce pain relief through an opioid independent mechanism and may be alternatives to opioids for combination with local anaesthetics for analgesia during labour. We studied 41 pregnant women. Epidural block was performed with 75 microg clonidine (n = 20) or 50 microg fentanyl (n = 21) combined with 0.125% bupivacaine (10 mL).

A comparative study of bupivacaine, bupivacaine with dexmedetomidine and bupivacaine with clonidine in spinal anesthesia for lower abdominal surgery [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Journal of Scientific Research, 2012
The present clinical comparative study was carried out in 90 patients of ASA GRADE I and II scheduled for lower abdominal surgery. They were divided into three groups of 30 each. The patients in group A received Bupivacaine alone and Patient in group B received Bupivacaine + dexmedetomidine and group c received bupivacaine + clonidine intrathecaly ...

Intraperitoneal bupivacaine with or without incisional bupivacaine for postoperative analgesia in dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy.

Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, 2016
OBJECTIVE Intraperitoneal (IP) bupivacaine provides postoperative analgesia in dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy (OHE) alone or in combination with incisional (INC) bupivacaine.

Effect of chronic bupivacaine infusion on seizure threshold to bupivacaine

Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, 1987
Thirty rats were pretreated with a continuous infusion of bupivacaine or placebo. On the fourth day the acute seizure threshold to bupivacaine was determined for both groups. The seizure dose, blood and brain concentration of bupivacaine showed no difference between the groups.

Comparison of bupivacaine carbonate and bupivacaine hydrochloride in epedural anesthesia in sheep

Pharmacological Research Communications, 1980
Summary Carbonated solutions of local anesthetic agents have been reported to exhibit shorter latency and more profound blockade than solutions of the hydrochloride salt. Using the sheep as a model for epidural anesthesia, we compared the carbonate and hydrochloride salts of bupivacaine, with and without epinephrine. Onsets and durations of analgesia
