Percolation and Burgers’ dynamics in a model of capillary formation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
Capillary networks are essential in vertebrates to supply tissues with nutrients. Experiments of in vitro capillary formation show that cells randomly spread on a gel matrix autonomously organize to form vascular networks. Cells form disconnected networks at low densities and connected ones above a critical density.

Burgers’ equation in the complex plane

open access: yes, 2023
Burgers' equation is a well-studied model in applied mathematics with connections to the Navier-Stokes equations in one spatial direction and traffic flow, for example.

Study on Shear Creep Characteristics and Creep Model of Soil-Rock Mixture Considering the Influence of Water Content

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Water content has a significant effect on the creep properties of soil-rock mixtures (SRM). Multi-loading shear creep tests are carried out on SRM samples with different water contents.

Meromorphy and topology of localized solutions in the Thomas–MHD model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The one-dimensional MHD system first introduced by J.H. Thomas [Phys. Fluids 11, 1245 (1968)] as a model of the dynamo effect is thoroughly studied in the limit of large magnetic Prandtl number.

High-Temperature Properties And Modeling of Asphalt Binders Modified with Sbr Copolymer and Ppa in the Multiple Stress Creep and Recovery (Mscr) Test

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2016
The main objectives of this paper are to (i) study the rutting performance of asphalt binders modified with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) copolymer, polyphosphoric acid (PPA) and SBR+PPA, (ii) quantify the percent recoveries R and the nonrecoverable ...

Experimental investigation on creep behavior of clastic rock [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
Many deflected fault zones exist under the dam foundation Xiang-jiaba Hydropower Station in southwestern China. Clastic rock is the main medium with poor physical and mechanical properties.

Lagrangian Averaging, Nonlinear Waves, and Shock Regularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this thesis, we explore various models for the flow of a compressible fluid as well as model equations for shock formation, one of the main features of compressible fluid flows.
