Burkholderia pseudomallei infection in chronic granulomatous disease
European Journal of Pediatrics, 2005Melioidosis is a severe illness caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei, a sepsis-causing bacterial pathogen that is common in East Asia. We reexamined the underlying diagnosis in a 12-year-old boy who was diagnosed in the French West Indies with melioidosis when he was 4 years old.

Screening for potential anti-infective agents towards Burkholderia pseudomallei infection
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014The established treatment for melioidosis is antibiotic therapy. However, a constant threat to this form of treatment is resistance development of the causative agent, Burkholderia pseudomallei, towards antibiotics. One option to circumvent this threat of antibiotic resistance is to search for new alternative anti-infectives which target the host ...

Cellular aspects of Burkholderia cepacia infection.
Microbes and infection, 2001The Gram-negative bacterium Burkholderia cepacia has recently emerged as an important opportunistic pathogen in humans. This review focuses on the cellular aspects of B. cepacia infection and the dynamics of the B. cepacia-host cell interaction, including recent advances in our understanding of the ability of B. cepacia to adhere to, enter, and survive

Autophagy subversion of burkholderia pseudomallei infection
2017Burkholderia pseudomallei, a gram-negative bacterium, is the causative agent of melioidosis, which is endemic in tropical areas such as South East Asia and Northern Australia and results in significant mortality. B. pseudomallei is able to invade both non-phagocytic cells and phagocytic cells, escape from the endosome/phagosome and replicate within the
