Endemic Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) remains the most prevalent pediatric cancer in sub-Saharan Africa even though it was the first human cancer with a viral etiology described over 50 years ago. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) was discovered in a BL tumor in 1964 and has since been implicated in other malignancies.

The case of a 33-year-old woman with Burkitt's lymphoma is presented. This is the third case that has been reported from India. The primary involvement was in the mandible. Endoxan was administered without response. Radiotherapy was resorted to as the second choice of treatment, but metastases developed rapidly in other organs. The patient survived for

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in children and, among cancers, lymphoma is the third most frequently diagnosed type. The majority of these are non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL). Burkitt’s and Burkitt-like Lymphoma
Current Treatment Options in Oncology, 2002Burkitt's and Burkitt-like lymphoma (BL/BLL) are aggressive B-cell malignancies with a high proliferative rate that may be fatal within months if not treated promptly. Furthermore, treatment of BL/BLL requires comprehensive supportive care to avoid disease-related complications such as acute renal failure secondary to tumor lysis syndrome. Improvements

HIV Lymphoma and Burkitts Lymphoma
The Cancer Journal, 2020AbstractDespite widely available antiretroviral therapy, lymphoma remains the leading cause of death for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)–infected persons in economically developed countries. Even a few months of drug interruptions can lead to drops in the CD4 cell count, HIV viremia, and an increased risk of lymphoma.

Burkitt's lymphoma is a mature B-cell lymphoma that is characterized by a rapid proliferative rate and propensity for extranodal sites of involvement such as the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. This subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is associated with unique cytogenetic translocations involving the c-MYC oncogene on chromosome 8 ...
