Burning velocities of ethanol-isooctane blends

Combustion and Flame, 1984
Abstract Laminar burning velocities of isooctane, ethanol, and isooctane-ethanol blends in air have been determined over a practical range of mixture strength at various initial mixture temperatures using a constant volume spherical bomb. Measurements were made during the constant pressure combustion period and a detailed density correction scheme ...

Laminar burning velocity of hydrogen–methane/air premixed flames

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2007
The laminar burning velocities of hydrogen-methane/air mixtures at NTP conditions were calculated using the CHEMKIN PREMIX code with the GRI kinetic mechanism. The equivalence ratio and the fuel composition were varied from lean to rich and from pure methane to pure hydrogen, respectively.

Gas velocities inside a burning cigarette

Nature, 1976
To understand more fully the factors that contribute to the formation and mass transfer of products within a burning cigarette, and to specify the type of reactions occurring, it is necessary to know the velocity of gases inside the combustion coal. In this study, velocities have been calculated from pressure and temperature distributions inside the ...

Turbulent burning velocity, burned gas distribution, and associated flame surface definition

Combustion and Flame, 2003
Abstract Experimental studies of premixed, turbulent, gaseous explosion flames in a fan-stirred bomb are reported. The turbulence was uniform and isotropic, while changes in the rms turbulent velocity were achieved by changes in the speed of the fans. Central spark ignitions created mean spherical flame propagation.

Determination of the Velocity of Burning

Nature, 1952
IN a recent paper by Linnet and Conan1, it is pointed out that the Schlieren cone is better suited for determining the velocity of burning than the luminous flame cone and the shadow cone. The Schlieren cone lies closer to the centre, as has been demonstrated by Broeze2 and by others.
