Physiological Controls on Carbon Fluxes and Biomass Production in Miscanthus: Insights From a Process‐Based Agroecosystem Model

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
Miscanthus productivity is governed by interacting plant processes from phenology and canopy development to carbon assimilation. Data‐constrained simulations reveal that photosynthetic protein allocation sets productivity potential, while electron transport capacity remains a key regulator of additional productivity gains.

Sulfur sources in the control of burrower bugs, Cyrtomenus mirabilis (Hemiptera: Cydnidae) in peanuts

open access: yes, 2020
The burrower bug, Cyrtomenus mirabilis (Perty, 1836) (Hemiptera: Cydnidae) is the main soil pest in peanuts. Its main damage is related to the attack on pods during the development phase of the kernels. Nymphs and adults insert the stylet of their oral apparatus, reaching the developing grains.

Along the Benthic to Holoplanktonic Continuum: Seafloor Affinity Increases Distance‐Decay Rates Among Abyssal Communities

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Marine species ranges are often large, contributing to relatively high community similarity over space, with decreased ranges expected among taxa that have lower dispersal and/or higher substrate requirements. We tested for a weakening of biogeographic structuring among dispersing abyssal taxa along the benthic to holoplanktonic habitat ...

Rare Caudal Regeneration Anomalies in Geckos Are Associated With Global Solar Radiation Gradients

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Morphological abnormalities may reduce fitness in wild animals, making them ecologically relevant for conservation efforts. Anomalies, such as a bifurcation or a trifurcation of a regenerated gecko tail, can change locomotion, social signalling, and predator evasion, with potential effects on survival and reproductive success.

Beyond prejudice reduction: Personal and civic effects of intergroup contact among marginalized youth in Northern Ireland

open access: yesPolitical Psychology, Volume 47, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Intergroup contact reduces prejudice, but its potential to foster broader personal and societal change remains understudied. We address these gaps by examining a large‐scale peacebuilding intervention (PEACE4Youth) among marginalized youth in post‐conflict Northern Ireland.
