Increased nerve growth factor expression in the synovial tissues of patients with rotator cuff tears

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2021
Background Rotator cuff tears (RCTs) are often associated with severe shoulder pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, not recommended for long-term use, do not effectively manage RCT-induced pain, resulting in reduced quality of life.

Myofascial Release Techniques as an Adjunct Treatment in Individuals With Frozen Shoulder: A Systematic Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Frozen shoulder is characterized by pain and progressive restriction of shoulder range of motion (ROM), leading to functional limitations. Myofascial release (MFR) techniques are commonly used in clinical practice, mainly as an adjunct to conventional physiotherapy, yet their effectiveness in frozen shoulder remains unclear.

Comparison of cone beam CT and low‐field MRI for diagnosing equine foot and pastern lesions

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 6, Page e332-e343, June 2026.
Summary Background While standing magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) of the foot has been extensively studied, descriptions of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) abnormalities in this region are sparse. Objective This study compares CBCT and sMRI for diagnosing lesions in the equine foot and pastern, aiming to assess the complementarity of these ...

Fatal spinal cord compression in a horse with chronic actinobacterial cranial nuchal bursitis

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 5, Page e235-e242, May 2026.
Summary A 14‐year‐old warmblood gelding was managed for waxing and waning cranial nuchal bursitis for 2 years. Intensive medical and surgical management was not curative, and the patient was subjected to euthanasia after becoming acutely recumbent. Ante‐mortem and post‐mortem next generation sequencing of bursal tissue and post‐mortem conventional PCR ...

Frequency of Penetration of the Digital Flexor Tendon Sheath and Distal Interphalangeal Joint Using a Direct Endoscopic Approach to the Navicular Bursa in Horses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the frequency of inadvertent penetration of the digital flexor tendon sheath (DFTS) and/or distal interphalangeal joint (DIPJ) when using a direct endoscopic approach to the navicular bursa, and to evaluate an alternate direct ...

Supraspinatus Tendon Thickness Is Associated With Collagen Disorganization in Symptomatic and Asymptomatic Shoulders of Individuals With Unilateral Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Rotator cuff (RC) tendinopathy is a common source of shoulder pain and is frequently linked to structural changes in the supraspinatus tendon of greater thickness and disrupted collagen organization. This study aimed to characterize differences in tendon thickness and collagen organization between individuals with unilateral symptomatic RC ...

Synovial Chondromatosis of the Shoulder without Calcification on Plain Radiograph

open access: yes, 2011
Synovial chondromatosis is a rare metaplastic condition that comprises a proliferation of cartilaginous bodies within the synovial membrane, bursa, or tendon sheath. It is characterized by the formation of multiple cartilaginous foci within the synovium

Evaluation of Partial Volume Correction Techniques for Sodium MRI of the Achilles Tendon

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2180-2193, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate partial volume correction (PVC) techniques for sodium MRI of the Achilles tendon in situ and in vivo. Methods Five PVC methods were evaluated including a volume ratio of the proton and sodium segmentations (PSSR), a modified least trimmed square (3D‐mLTS) linear regression, a geometric transfer matrix (GTM) approach, a ...

Synovial Osteochondromatosis in the Subacromial Bursa: A Case Report

open access: yesOrthopedics & Traumatology, 2008
