mRNA expression in different developmental stages of the chicken bursa of Fabricius.

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2016
The bursa of Fabricius, the central humoral immune organ unique to birds, plays an important role in B-lymphocyte differentiation. In order to gain a better understanding of the molecular mechanism of critical biological processes like B-cell immigration,

Effect of High Fructose Corn Syrup and Citric Acid in Broiler Diets on Performance, Gut pH, Immunity, Antioxidant Status and Some Blood Parameters

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
Although HFCS negatively affected performance both alone and when mixed with citric acid, citric acid alone positively affects performance. In addition, HFCS together with citric acid increased serum TCHO and HDL‐CHO levels. Although HFCS and citric acid do not have antioxidant effects as both mixtures and alone, it has been determined that citric acid

Aphids associated with shrubs, herbaceous plants and crops in the Maltese Archipelago (Hemiptera, Aphidoidea) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A survey of the aphids associated with Maltese shrubs, herbaceous plants and crops was carried out. Sixty six aphid species were recorded from more than 90 species of host plants.

Application of Green Cobalt Nanoparticles in the Diet of Broiler Chickens to Improve Sustainable Production and Health

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
Nanoparticles, such as green cobalt nanoparticles, are easier to pass through cell membranes in animals and interact rapidly with biological systems. The results indicated that BNCo supplementation at 200 ppm/kg diet produced the best overall performance, demonstrating its potential as an innovative additive for broiler diets.

The effects of classic and variant infectious bursal disease viruses on lymphocyte populations in specific-pathogen-free White Leghorn chickens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) is a pathogen that primarily infects B lymphocytes in domestic avian species. This viral infection has been associated with immunosuppression, clinical disease/mortality, and enteric malabsorption effects.

Infectious bursal disease virus: strains that differ in virulence differentially modulate the innate immune response to infection in the chicken bursa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Little is understood about the immune responses involved in the pathogenesis of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). Strains of IBDV differ in their virulence: F52/70 is a classical virulent strain (vIBDV), whereas UK661 is a very virulent strain ...

The Effect of Dietary Oil Level and Multi‐Enzyme Supplementation on Performance, Bone Mechanical Properties and Mineral Contents, Intestine Morphology and Immune Response in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
Dietary supplementation by vegetable oil (VO) plays an important role in lipid metabolism and its body deposition. Lower liver relative weight of broiler chickens fed a diet supplying 12% of ME requirement through VO suggests that VO could cause an inhibition of lipogenesis. ABSTRACT Background Supplementing broiler diets with non‐starch polysaccharide

Proposed bursa of Fabricius weight to body weight ratio standard in commercial broilers.

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2015
Several causes may induce change and atrophy in the bursa of Fabricius (BF). Databases on BF standards are available from published studies, however, updated references are needed to adjust the BF standards to present changes in highly specialized ...
