Harnessing γ‐Valerolactone: Green and Low‐Toxic Solvent for Enhanced Dye‐Sensitized Solar Cells Performance Under Indoor Lighting

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This research explores the use of γ‐valerolactone (γ‐VL), a sustainable and low‐toxic solvent, as an alternative for dye‐sensitized solar cell electrolytes. Results indicate that while γ‐VL is less suitable for outdoor applications, it significantly outperforms traditional solvents like acetonitrile and 3‐methoxypropionitrile under indoor lighting ...

Toward Energy Justice Principles for Sustainable Lithium‐Ion Battery Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Prefeasibility life cycle assessment is used to evaluate the environmental, social, and supply chain impacts of lithium‐ion battery technologies, and the concept of distributional energy justice is discussed. By comparing chemistries and use cases, it reveals inequities in material sourcing and technology access.
