Aligning Business Process Models
2009 IEEE International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference, 2009This paper studies the following problem: given a pair of business process models, determine which elements in one model are related to which elements in the other model. This problem arises in the context of merging different versions or variants of a business process model or when comparing business process models in order to display their ...

Business process modeling is that make use of graphics, formulas, tables and text to describe the characteristics of business process, and answer why to do, what to do, how to do. Business process modeling is the foundation of business process management. Implementation of business process management can improve the process and enhance competitiveness.

Proceedings of the 32nd ACM International Conference on The Design of Communication CD-ROM, 2014
Process models are composed of graphical elements and words. However, words used to name elements during process design have potentially ambiguous meanings, which might result in quality problems. We believe that ontologies might serve as a means to address this problem. This paper discusses aspects related to words used to represent concepts in labels

Illustrates the usage of Abstract State Machines (ASMs) in the area of business process modeling (BPM). A commercially used web service modeling pattern (Virtual Provider) is defined. A BPM-specific class of ASM net diagrams is introduced and shown to support IBM’s Guard-State-Milestone approach and the central communication concept of the Subject ...

Modeling Change in Business Processes
2023Business processes are regularly modified either to capture requirements from the organization’s environment or due to internal optimization and restructuring. Implementing the changes into the individual work routines is aided by change management tools. These tools aim at the acceptance of the process by and empowerment of the process executor.

Processes form the heart of every organization regardless of its size, type, or age. These processes may be formal and documented or informal existing in people’s heads. Regardless of their type processes are generally complex, require deep understanding, and need to be communicated well.

Business Modelling Is Not Process Modelling
2000Innovative e-business projects start with a design of the e-business model. We often encounter the view, in research as well as industry practice, that an e-business model is similar to a business process model, and so can be specified using UML activity diagrams or Petri nets. In this paper, we explain why this is a misunderstanding.
