Benchmarking the SPARC software program for estimating solubilities of naphthalene and anthracene in organic solvents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The SPARC software program was benchmarked for calculating the solubilities of two representative polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), naphthalene and anthracene, in a range of organic solvents at various temperatures.

Nanoconfinement‐Steered Molecular Preorganization Enables Efficient Monoethanolamine Degradation through Electronically Modulated High‐Valent Iron–Oxo Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Precise modulation of reaction pathways remains an unresolved challenge in peroxymonosulfate‐activated advanced oxidation processes. The spatial preorganization strategy in engineered confinement architecture enables regioselective bond cleavage in monoethanolamine via synergistic proton–electron transfer, redirecting its degradation from nonselective ...

Photocatalytic oxidation mechanism of alkanes in contact with titanium dioxide [PDF]

open access: yes
Isobutane was photooxidized on titanium dioxide between -16 and +180 C in tertiary butanol and acetone. The formation of tertiary butanol preceded the formation of acetone. Above 20 C the latter compound became clearly predominant.

Sabatier‐Adjusted d‐Band Centers of Scalable Asymmetric Iron Sites toward Dynamic Nonradical Network for Fast Mineralization with Low‐Amount Oxidant

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Asymmetric iron single‐atom catalysts with Sabatier‐adjusted d‐band centers overcome the inherent limitations of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation by establishing a synergistic nonradical pathway network, achieving exceptional pollutant mineralization (≈85%) at only one‐tenth conventional PMS dosage.

The properties of electrolyte solutions in nonaqueous and mixed solvents [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
This paper constitutes a reviev of the results of investigations on electrolyte solutions in some organic solvents that behaves similarly to water from thermochemical point of vi,»w as well as in some water - organic mixed solvents.

Nuclear magnetic resonance measurements reveal the origin of the Debye process in monohydroxy alcohols

open access: yes, 2010
Monohydroxy alcohols show a structural relaxation and at longer time scales a Debye-type dielectric peak. From spin-lattice relaxation experiments using different nuclear probes an intermediate, slower-than-structural dynamics is identified for n-butanol.

Multivariate statistical analysis for the identification of potential seafood spoilage indicators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) characterize the spoilage of seafood packaged under modified atmospheres (MAs) and could thus be used for quality monitoring.
