This review provides an overview on bacterial butanol production and recent developments concerning strain improvement, newly built butanol production plants, and the importance of alternative substrates, especially lignocellulosic hydrolysates. The butanol fermentation using solventogenic clostridial strains, particularly Clostridium acetobutylicum ...

Screened Butanol-Tolerant Enterococcus faecium Capable of Butanol Production
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2012Due to the complex mechanisms involved in butanol-induced stress response, butanol tolerance phenotype is difficult to engineer even in microorganisms with well-defined genetic backgrounds. We therefore aimed to isolate butanol-tolerant microorganisms from environmental samples as potential alternative hosts for butanol production.

Because of the paucity of data on the phase behaviour of mixtures of compounds containing active or polar groups at elevated pressure, the P-V-T-x relations of the iso-butanol-n-butanol, methanol—n-butanol and diethyl ether—n-butanol systems were determined at the liquid-vapour phase boundaries from near their atmospheric boiling points to the highest ...
