Selective Butanol Synthesis over Rhodium−Molybdenum Catalysts Supported in Ordered Mesoporous Silica

open access: yes, 2016
Rhodium catalysts were synthesized in ordered mesoporous silica FSM-16 using Rh/Al heteropolyacid anions and/or [Rh(COD)2]+ complex. The hydroformylation activity of propene was compared to impregnated Rh/FSM-16 catalysts prepared from rhodium chloride ...

Improving biobutanol production in engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae by manipulation of acetyl-CoA metabolism

open access: yes, 2015
Recently, butanols (1-butanol, 2-butanol and iso-butanol) have generated attention as alternative gasoline additives. Butanols have several properties favorable in comparison to ethanol, and strong interest therefore exists in the reconstruction of the 1-

Atomic Interlayer Mo–N4 Sites Enable Rapid Charge Transfer and Efficient CO2 Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work achieved efficient CO2 activation and ultrafast interlayer electron transport in a 2D COF by constructing atomic‐level Mo‐N4‐induced interlayer electron bridges (IEB), thereby kinetically and thermodynamically co‐driving the photocatalytic coupling of CO2 reduction with 4‐methoxybenzyl alcohol oxidation.

Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Ultrasonic and thermodynamic effects of self-association of aliphatic alcohols in cyclohexane. III. Secondary and tertiary butanols

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
The ultrasound velocities in and densities of mixtures of cyclohexane with 2-butanol {x1sec-C4H9OH+(1-x1)C6H12} and with 2-methyl-2-propanol {x1tert-C4H9OH+(1-x1)C6H12} have been measured at 293.15K. The adiabatic compressibility coefficients, βs=-1/

Concurrently Achieving 4.6 W/M2 and 120,000 Cyclability Enabled by Extendable Swing Arms in Rotational Triboelectric Nanogenerator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rotational energy harvesting device that successfully reconciles high power density with mechanical durability through a hybrid sliding‐and‐bouncing kinematic mechanism is reported. The success reported in our paper includes addressing a dilemma where enhanced electrical output comes at the cost of increased friction and wear, limiting the practical ...

A Note on combustion Properties of Chromium Trioxide

open access: yes, 2014
Chromium trioxide has been found to be powerful oxidising agent for supporting the combustion of many organic fuels like alcohols, aldehydes and ketones. Ignitability of butanols follows the order, n-butanol> sec-butanol>tertbutanol.

Simultaneous Wastewater‐to‐Hydrogen Upgrading via Mechanically Driven Piezocatalysis Over Ag‐ZnO Nanorods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezocatalytic strategy enables simultaneous wastewater purification and hydrogen generation by harnessing mechanical energy. Complementary piezo‐induced charges are selectively directed toward oxidation and reduction pathways, achieving efficient pollutant degradation and continuous H2 evolution.

Bioinspired Interfacial Hydration Engineering via Metal–Organic Frameworks for Efficient Nitrate‐To‐Ammonia Conversion in Neutral Media

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by Nitrite reductase, a metal–organic framework overlayer is introduced to regulate the interfacial hydration microenvironment on Cu electrodes, enriching hydrated K+ species that act as efficient proton donors. This strategy enables nitrate‐to‐ammonia conversion with near‐unity selectivity at industrial‐level current densities in neutral ...

Cobalt Single‐Atom Catalysts for Ultrafast Sulfamethoxazole Degradation: Unveiling the Chloride‐Ion‐Enhanced Formation of Co(IV)=O

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An atomically dispersed Co–N4 single‐atom catalyst rapidly activates peroxymonosulfate to remove the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole from water. Common ions have little impact, but chloride dramatically speeds degradation by promoting a high‐valent Co(IV) = O oxidant via in situ HOCl–catalyst electron transfer.
