Engineering Escherichia coli for Microbial Production of Butanone [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2016
ABSTRACT To expand the chemical and molecular diversity of biotransformation using whole-cell biocatalysts, we genetically engineered a pathway in Escherichia coli for heterologous production of butanone, an important commodity ketone. First, a 1-propanol-producing E.

Stereoselective Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of Optically Active Aryl-Substituted Oxygen-Containing Heterocycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A two-step stereoselective chemoenzymatic synthesis of optically active α-aryl-substituted oxygen heterocycles was developed, exploiting a whole-cell mediated asymmetric reduction of α-, β-, and γ-chloroalkyl arylketones followed by a stereospecific ...

Ring cleavage and successive aldol reaction of 3-[(Trialkylsilyl)methyl] cyclobutanones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
3-[(Trialkylsilyl)methyl]cyclobutanones reacted with aldehydes by activation with titanium(IV) chloride to give acyclic β,γ;- unsaturated β′-hydroxyketones.

Atmospheric Fate and Impact of Perfluorinated Butanone and Pentanone [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Science & Technology, 2019
Perfluoroketones, used as replacement to halons and CFCs, are excluded from the Montreal Protocol because they are considered as nonozone depleting substances. However, their chemical structure makes them possible greenhouse gases if their atmospheric lifetimes are long enough.

Exploitation of differential electronic densities for the stereoselective reduction of ketones bearing a masked amino surrogate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A tethered ruthenium-TsDPEN catalyst is employed for the facile catalytic asymmetric reduction of α-phthalimyl-α′-ketoethers under mild conditions.

Flow synthesis of cyclobutanones $\textit{via}$ [2 + 2] cycloaddition of keteneiminium salts and ethylene gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A flow chemistry process for the synthesis of 2-substituted cyclobutanones, $\textit{via}$ [2+2] cycloaddition of keteneiminium salts and ethylene gas, is reported.

Preparation of 4 '-spirocyclobutyl nucleoside analogues as novel and versatile adenosine scaffolds

open access: yes, 2019
Despite the large variety of modified nucleosides that have been reported, the preparation of constrained 4 '-spirocyclic adenosine analogues has received very little attention.

Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Crystal Growth: A General Framework for Anisotropic Crystal Growth in Cu‐Based Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Growth (CMDLG) framework is established to rationalize the anisotropic growth of lead‐free perovskites. Integrating coordination chemistry with mass transport kinetics, this study theoretically derives and experimentally validates that stable iodocuprate complexes induce a diffusion‐limited regime.

Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of new non-nucleosidic inhibitors od DNA methyltransferases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
2011 - 2012The inactivation of tumor suppressor genes, which often results from epigenetic silencing associated with DNA hypermethylation, plays a pivotal role in the development of most forms of human cancer.
