Premières observations au Luxembourg de Buxbaumia viridis (Bryopsida, Buxbaumiaceae)
Bulletin de la Société des Naturalistes luxembourgeoisBuxbaumia viridis, a bryophyte species listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive (JOCE 1992), is widespread in Central Europe. In Luxembourg, sporophytes of B. viridis had not yet been observed. Recent observations have shown that, although the sporophyte of B.

Many red-listed species grow on decaying wood in the boreal forest, and their persistence depends on dispersal to new patches. To investigate whether substrate quality could affect establishment and distribution of the red-listed moss Buxbaumia viridis (DC) Moug.

Distribution of Buxbaumia viridis (Moug. ex Lam.. & DC.) Brid. ex Moug. & Nestl. in Croatia
2012Buxbaumia viridis (Moug. ex Lam.. & DC.) Brid. ex Moug. & Nestl. is a boreal montane species, which lives on large, well-decaying wood in constantly humid forests. Being an indicator species of old- growth (primeval) forests – a rare forest habitat in European context - it is a Red listed species, included in the Bern Convention and Habitat Directives.

Abstract Occupancy and sporophyte numbers of Buxbaumia viridis on patches of decaying wood were investigated during a 4-year period (1996-99). Temporal variation in sporophyte number was investigated in relation to precipitation. Spore number per sporophyte was counted and spore number per substratum patch area and forest area were calculated.
