The Landau-Lifshitz equation, the NLS, and the magnetic rogue wave as a by-product of two colliding regular "positons"

open access: yes, 2018
In this article we present a new method for construction of exact solutions of the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation (LLG) for ferromagnetic nanowires.

Effects of Different Modified Atmosphere Packages on Storage Quality of Peppermint and Establishment of Respiration Rate Model of Peppermint Preservation

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To extend the post-harvest storage duration of peppermint and predict the post-harvest respiration rate of peppermint, peppermint was subjected to modified atmosphere packaging conditions with different packaging materials (PE, OPP1.8/PE3.5, OPP1.8/4.5 ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Proteomic Analysis Unveils the Protective Mechanism of Active Modified Atmosphere Packaging Against Senescence Decay and Respiration in Postharvest Loose-Leaf Lettuce

open access: yesAgriculture
In this study, physicochemical and proteomic analyses were performed to investigate the effect of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on the quality of postharvest loose-leaf lettuce.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Chiral anomaly for local boundary conditions

open access: yes, 2003
It is known that in the zeta function regularization and in the Fujikawa method chiral anomaly is defined through a coefficient in the heat kernel expansion for the Dirac operator.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
