Development and identification of wheat-Ag.pulcherrimum addition line and substitution line with BYDV resistance

Science in China Series C: Life Sciences, 1999
Breeding materials derived from CPI113500, amphidiploid of T. turgidum x Ag.pulcherrimum with barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) resistance, were evaluated by using BYDV resistance test, morphology observation, cytogenetics analysis, aneuploid analysis, isozyme electrophoresis, in situ hybridization.

Advances in understanding the biology and epidemiology of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV)

2021
A tri-trophic network of domesticated grasses (host), various aphids (vector) and barley yellow dwarf virus (pathogen) species has been spread by humans from Eurasia to the rest of the world. Understanding how climate, natural and agricultural landscapes challenge pathogens, vectors, and their natural enemies and shape their dynamics is the key to ...

Reactions in Maize Infected with Swedish Isolates of Barley Yellow Dwarf (BYDV)

Journal of Phytopathology, 1983
AbstractNine cultivars of maize (Zea mays L.) were tested for susceptibility to BYDV under three temperature ranges in the greenhouse. Three Swedish isolates of BYDV were used, two specifically transmitted by Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (39/78) and by Sitobion avenae (Fabr.) (27/77), respectively, and the third by both species (70). The virus isolates were

High-resolution mapping of the barley Ryd3 locus controlling tolerance to BYDV

Molecular Breeding, 2013
Barley yellow dwarf disease (BYD) is transmitted by aphids and is caused by different strains of Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) and Cereal yellow dwarf virus (CYDV). Economically it is one of the most important diseases of cereals worldwide. Besides chemical control of the vector, growing of tolerant/resistant cultivars is an effective way of ...

Results of the aphid control and possibility for preventing BYDV on wheat

Integrated management of wheat aphid and BYDV by protein elicitor

2019
Sitobion avenae is one of the destructive aphids on wheat, causing huge loss in agriculture by plant sap consumption and virus transmission including barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). The wheat - aphid - BYDV composes the plant - vector - virus system with wheat aphid as the control target.

[Effect of BYDV-MP nuclear localization signal on the movement of PVX].

Bing du xue bao = Chinese journal of virology, 2012
Abstract:By using PVX derived vector pGR107, the effect of BYDV-MP nuclear localization signal on the movement of PVX was studied. BYDV-MP was cloned into pGR107 using GFP as an indicator. BYDV-MP was then shown to induce the systemic infection and exacerbate the symptom of PVX through infecting Nicotiana benthamiana.

Characterization of transgenic oats for resistance to BYDV and assessment of possible risks

In this study we show the first example of the pathogen-derived resistance concept applied to oats. In collaboration with Dr. D. Somers' lab (University of Minnesota) we developed transgenic oat lines transformed with the putative replicase gene of BYDV-PAV.
