Systemic T Cell Receptor Profiling Reveals Adaptive Immune Activation and Potential Immune Signatures of Diagnosis and Brain Atrophy in Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy is increasingly associated with immune dysregulation and inflammation. The T cell receptor (TCR), a key mediator of adaptive immunity, shows repertoire alterations in various immune‐mediated diseases. The unique TCR sequence serves as a molecular barcode for T cells, and clonal expansion accompanied by reduced overall TCR ...

A Role for Bioelectric Effects in the Induction of Bystander Signals by Ionizing Radiation?

open access: yesDose-Response, 2007
The induction of “bystander effects” i.e. effects in cells which have not received an ionizing radiation track, is now accepted but the mechanisms are not completely clear.

Estrogen enhanced cell-cell signalling in breast cancer cells exposed to targeted irradiation

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2008
Background Radiation-induced bystander responses, where cells respond to their neighbours being irradiated are being extensively studied. Although evidence shows that bystander responses can be induced in many types of cells, it is not known whether ...

Radiation-Induced Rescue Effect: Insights from Microbeam Experiments

open access: yesBiology, 2022
The present paper reviews a non-targeted effect in radiobiology known as the Radiation-Induced Rescue Effect (RIRE) and insights gained from previous microbeam experiments on RIRE.

Bystander Effects

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractThe lesson from research on the bystander effect is that the more people who are present when a verbal intervention is required to change the course of events in a positive way, the less likely it is that anyone will speak up. Although exceptions occur, where a high number of bystanders can increase the likelihood of intervention, the main ...

Local symmetry properties of pure 3-qubit states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Entanglement types of pure states of 3 qubits are classified by means of their stabilisers in the group of local unitary operations. It is shown that the stabiliser is generically discrete, and that a larger stabiliser indicates a stationary value for ...

Anti‐PD‐1 Nanobody‐Armored MSLN CAR‐T Therapy for Malignant Mesothelioma: Preclinical and Clinical Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel therapy using engineered immune cells (NAC‐T cells) showed promise for refractory malignant mesothelioma. Based on the encouraging preclinical data, the first‐in‐human trial is initiated, demonstrating tolerable safety and promising anti‐tumor activity (ORR 63.6%, DCR 100%, including one CR).

Booze, Bars, and Bystander Behavior: People who Consumed Alcohol Help Faster in the Presence of Others.

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
People help each other less often and less quickly when bystanders are present. In this paper, we propose that alcohol consumption could attenuate or reverse this so-called bystander effect.
