Engineered GM1 Intersects Between Mitochondrial and Synaptic Pathways to Ameliorate ALS Pathology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease driven by genetic and molecular disruptions affecting energy balance, protein homeostasis, and stress responses in nerve cells. Studies using human and rodent models identified convergent defects in mitochondria and synaptic function.

Logic‐Gated HSV‐TK/GCV Suicide Gene Circuit for Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The BRAS comprises two modular genetic components driven by distinct tumor‐specific promoters and a failsafe layer with the NOT gate. This multi‐input logic gate circuit enables precise, specific expression of HSV‐TK in breast cancer cells with hardly expression in normal cell and effectively inhibits tumor growth in a triple‐negative breast cancer ...

Uptake of cervical cancer screening and associated factors among human immune virus positive women attending antiretroviral therapy clinic in public health facilities, Northeast Ethiopia, 2022: A cross-sectional study

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine
Background: Although cervical cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women and has a high morbidity, mortality, and low quality of life burden among human immune virus-positive women, there is little evidence of it in northeastern Ethiopia.

NPM1 Mediates mRNA Sorting into Extracellular Vesicles via Specific RNA Motif Binding and Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NPM1 selectively sorts specific mRNAs into extracellular vesicles (EVs) by recognizing RNA motifs and forming phase‐separated condensates. These mRNA cargos—including EGFR—are then loaded via multivesicular bodies. This active sorting pathway, validated in EVs derived from both lung cancer cells and patient serum, reveals a specific mechanism for ...

The predictive value of miR-29b-2-5p on the prognosis of cervical cancer and its inhibitory effect on cervical cancer progression

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers
Objective The poor prognosis of cervical cancer patients leads to an annual increase in mortality, while microRNAs are involved in various cancers, including cervical cancer.

Resolvin D5 Inhibits CXCL8 Expression in Colonic Epithelial Cells Through Activating GPR101 to Impede Neutrophil Recruitment and Consequently Alleviate Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RvD5 effectively alleviates UC by inhibiting STAT1 signaling to reduce CXCL8 expression in colonic epithelial cells via activation of GPR101, which subsequently decreases the infiltration of neutrophils in the colonic mucosal epithelium. Epimedin A1, a natural allosteric inhibitor of 5‐LOX, demonstrates potential as a therapeutic agent for UC by ...

Restriction of Individual Branched‐Chain Amino Acids has Distinct Effects on the Development and Progression of Alzheimer's Disease in 3xTg Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein restriction (PR) slows Alzheimer's disease (AD) in mice, and other benefits of PR are due to decreased branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs). We show that restricting any BCAA has benefits, with sex‐ and BCAA‐specific impacts on pathology, molecular signaling, and cognition.
