Real‐Time In Vivo Monitoring of Anastomotic Intestinal Ischemia Using Implantable Resorbable Organic Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resorbable impedance sensors are successfully implanted into porcine small intestinal anastomoses. Impedance was recorded for 2 hours prior, and 2 hours following ischemia induction, and a significant drop in tissue impedance was observed. Abstract Anastomotic failure remains one of the most severe complications in gastrointestinal surgery.

Global surveillance of cancer survival 1995-2009: analysis of individual data for 25,676,887 patients from 279 population-based registries in 67 countries (CONCORD-2) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: Worldwide data for cancer survival are scarce. We aimed to initiate worldwide surveillance of cancer survival by central analysis of population-based registry data, as a metric of the effectiveness of health systems, and to inform global ...

Cancer‐Like Fragmentomic Characteristics of Somatic Variants in Cell‐Free DNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report that in non‐cancerous subjects, cell‐free (cfDNA) molecules harboring somatic variants exhibit cancer‐like fragmentomic characteristics associated with clonal hematopoiesis. Importantly, these somatic variant‐associated fragmentomic aberrations are more pronounced in cancer patients. Leveraging such somatic variant‐associated signals in cfDNA,

Resolvin D5 Inhibits CXCL8 Expression in Colonic Epithelial Cells Through Activating GPR101 to Impede Neutrophil Recruitment and Consequently Alleviate Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RvD5 effectively alleviates UC by inhibiting STAT1 signaling to reduce CXCL8 expression in colonic epithelial cells via activation of GPR101, which subsequently decreases the infiltration of neutrophils in the colonic mucosal epithelium. Epimedin A1, a natural allosteric inhibitor of 5‐LOX, demonstrates potential as a therapeutic agent for UC by ...

MR‐DELTAnet: A Longitudinal MRI‐Transformer Model Predicting Pathological Complete Response and Revealing Immune Microenvironment via scRNA‐seq in Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The MR‐DELTAnet model utilizes longitudinal MRI to predict treatment response after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in locally rectal cancer patients, accurately identifying patients likely to achieve pathological complete response for personalized management.

Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome: MRI findings and differentiation from rectal cancer

open access: yesInsights into Imaging
Background Systematic MRI findings of solitary rectal ulcer syndrome (SRUS) are lacking. We aimed to evaluate the MRI findings of SRUS and to identify the MRI features that differentiate SRUS from rectal cancer.

Phocaeicola coprophilus‐Derived 6‐Methyluracil Attenuates Radiation‐Induced Intestinal Fibrosis by Suppressing the IDO1‐Kynurenine‐AHR Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IR‐induced dysbiosis depletes P. coprophilus and its metabolite 6‐methyluracil, leading to disinhibition of the IDO1‐Kyn‐AHR axis. This results in sustained fibroblast activation and collagen deposition, driving radiation induced intestinal fibrosis. ABSTRACT Therapeutic options for radiation‐induced intestinal fibrosis (RIF) remain limited. This study
