Causal Effect Estimation With TMLE: Handling Missing Data and Near Violations of Positivity

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, Volume 68, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT We evaluate the performance of targeted maximum likelihood estimation (TMLE) for estimating the average treatment effect in missing data scenarios under varying levels of positivity violations. We employ model‐ and design‐based simulations, with the latter using undersmoothed highly adaptive lasso on the “WASH Benefits Bangladesh” data set to ...

Two‐Stage Multiple Test Procedures Controlling False Discovery Rate With Auxiliary Variable and Their Application to Set4Δ$\Delta$ Mutant Data

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, Volume 68, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we present novel methodologies that incorporate auxiliary variables for multiple hypotheses testing related to the main point of interest while effectively controlling the false discovery rate. When dealing with multiple tests concerning the primary variable of interest, researchers can use auxiliary variables to set ...

Rockburst prediction based on data preprocessing and hyperband‐RNN‐DNN

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 446-464, June 2026.
A data preprocessing workflow is proposed to address challenges in rockburst data analysis. Coupled algorithms preprocess the data set, and hyperband optimization is used to enhance RNN performance. Results show that preprocessing improves accuracy, while dense layers enhance model stability and prediction performance.

Covariance Structure Modeling of Engineering Demand Parameters in Cloud‐Based Seismic Analysis

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 7, Page 1533-1551, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Probabilistic seismic demand modeling aims to estimate structural demand as a function of ground motion intensity—a critical stage in seismic risk assessment. Although many models exist to describe the structural demand, few consider the covariance among engineering demand parameters, potentially overlooking a key factor in improving the ...

Risk return of forward contracting corn with crop insurance

open access: yesJournal of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 139-153, June 2026.
Abstract Forward contracting is a common pre‐harvest marketing strategy for row crops, with evidence suggesting higher prices during summer months due to embedded weather risk premiums. While aggressive forward contracting increases farmers' yield risk and potential non‐delivery penalties, crop revenue protection can help offset these financial burdens.
