Abstract We have observed many relatively sharp lines in the luminescence of single crystals of C60, identifying three zero-phonon lines from singlet states. Reducing the intensity of the laser beam enhances a set of peaks between 11 400 and 12 000 cm-1 (1.41–1.49 eV), and we suggest that they originate from triplet states.

Studies of optical limiting with C 60 in KBr and C 60 thin film on optical glass
SPIE Proceedings, 1996The optical limiting behavior has been first observed for C 60 solution in toluene and in polymethyl methacrylate by Lee W. Tutt et al and A. Kost et al respectively. In order to make the possible use of the optical limiting in practice, we have studied the optical limiting of Q- switched Nd:YAG radiation at 532 nm using the C 60 in KBr as a solid ...

Abstract The chlorofullerene C60Cl6 was demonstrated as a versatile precursor for the synthesis of two isomerically pure fullerenols via tetrabutylammonium bromide promoted reactions with water. Performing the synthesis in wet chlorobenzene produced 1,4-C60(OH)2 as the only isolable product along with substantial amounts of non-functionalized C60 ...

C 60 nanowhiskers fabricated by the liquid-liquid interfacial precipitation method were sintered at 800 °C under 5.5 GPa for 2 h. Structural, mechanical, and electrical properties of sintered C 60 nanowhiskers were compared with those of sintered pristine C 60 powder under the same conditions.

Structure and electronic state of C−60
Chemical Physics Letters, 1992Abstract Energetically optimized structure of C − 60 has been obtained by the semi-empirical (MINDO/3) MO calculation. C − 60 has turned out to have a squashed and swollen icosahedral geometry with D 3d symmetry due to the Jahn—Teller distortion.

Threshold photodetachment of cold C−60
Chemical Physics Letters, 1991Abstract Threshold photodetachment of cold C − 60 has been investigated with a tunable dye laser from 2.55 to 2.80 eV. The cold C − 60 was produced through laser vaporization of a purified C 60 target with a specially designed nozzle. The threshold behavior of the detachment cross section as a function of energy was found to be well described by

A Raman study of polymerised C 60
Applied Physics A: Materials Science & Processing, 1997are reported. Although prepared according to different routes the Raman spectra of the two polymeric phases of C60 show a quantitative agreement with respect to mode positions and intensity. We conclude from this that both materials have the same structure at least in the short range order, i.e.
