CPM Signals for Satellite Navigation in the S and C Bands [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2015
Frequency allocations in the L band suitable for global navigation satellite system (GNSS) services are getting crowded and system providers face an ever tougher job when they try to bring in new signals and services while maintaining radio frequency compatibility.

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Generation of tunable, high repetition rate optical frequency combs using on-chip silicon modulators

open access: yes, 2018
We experimentally demonstrate tunable, highly-stable frequency combs with high repetition-rates using a single, charge injection based silicon PN modulator. In this work, we demonstrate combs in the C-band with over 8 lines in a 20-dB bandwidth.

28 Gb/s direct modulation heterogeneously integrated C-band InP/SOI DFB laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We demonstrate direct modulation of a heterogeneously integrated C-band DFB laser on SOI at 28 Gb/s with a 2 dB extinction ratio. This is the highest direct modulation bitrate so far reported for a membrane laser coupled to an SOI waveguide.

C-band waveguide polarizer

open access: yes, 2021
This research presents the design and characteristics of new wideband polarizer based on the square waveguide with irises. Matching and polarization characteristics of the polarizer have been simulated and optimized. Frequency dependences of the characteristics are presented. Developed polarizer can be applied in satellite information systems.

C‐banding visualized by atomic force microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesScanning, 2001
AbstractC‐banding is a method used for studying chromosome rearrangements near centromeres and for investigating polymorphisms. In human chromosomes, the C‐bands are located at the centromere of all the chromosomes and the distal long arm of the Y chromosome. In this study, we aimed to detect the structural changes in chromosomes during the stages of C‐

Dendritic cells steering antigen and leukocyte traffic in lymph nodes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dendritic cells are key players in the activation of T cells and their commitment to effector function. In this In a Nutshell Review, we will discuss how dendritic cells guide the trafficking of antigen and leukocytes in the lymph node, thus influencing T‐cell activation processes. Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in initiating and shaping the

The C-Band All-Sky Survey: Instrument design, status, and first-look data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The C-Band All-Sky Survey (C-BASS) aims to produce sensitive, all-sky maps of diffuse Galactic emission at 5 GHz in total intensity and linear polarization.

Leveraging current insights on IL‐10‐producing dendritic cells for developing effective immunotherapeutic approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/
